About the Role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will take a leadership role in both technical execution and team development, shaping the architecture of our platform while guiding and mentoring engineers to deliver exceptional results. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable and efficient applications across web and mobile platforms, leading technical projects, and fostering a high-performing team culture. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving technical excellence, developing engineering talent, and ensuring the success of our engineering efforts as we scale our impact in transforming cancer care.

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust web and mobile applications using modern technologies.
  • Lead technical projects from conception to deployment across web, iOS, and Android platforms, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
  • Architect and implement scalable backend services, leveraging cloud technologies and best practices.
  • Develop intuitive user interfaces in React (v.18) and TypeScript, ensuring responsive design principles.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight for mobile development initiatives on iOS and Android platforms.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and career development support.
  • Facilitate team ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, and technical design reviews.
  • Drive engineering best practices, including code quality standards, testing strategies, and documentation.
  • Identify and develop technical growth opportunities for team members, creating a culture of continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to define technical roadmaps and team goals.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages innovation and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our platform.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer, with a strong focus on both front-end (React, TypeScript) and back-end (Java, Node.js, or similar) technologies.
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, including leading projects and mentoring engineers.
  • Proven experience designing and building scalable applications and services in a production environment.
  • Exposure to mobile development on iOS and/or Android platforms, with understanding of mobile-specific challenges and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate engineering teams, with a track record of developing talent and improving team performance.
  • Strong technical decision-making skills with the ability to balance trade-offs between speed, quality, and technical debt.
  • Experience facilitating technical discussions, achieving consensus, and driving decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent mentorship and coaching skills, with a passion for helping engineers grow their technical and professional capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Experience with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Solid understanding of web security principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Exposure to agentic AI frameworks (LangChain/LangGraph)
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and leading agile teams.
  • Experience leveraging AI coding agents / IDEs to increase development efficiency
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of presenting ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapt to changing priorities while supporting team members through change.
  • Experience building high-trust relationships across engineering, product, and design teams.
  • Experience in healthcare or health-tech development is a plus.
