Summary 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Game UI/UX Designer to join our dynamic team. As the Lead Game UI/UX Designer, you will be responsible for creating intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces that enhance the overall player experience. You will have a direct impact on how players interact with our games, ensuring that our interfaces are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. 

Core Responsibilities 

  • Influence overall UI art styles and creative direction through your work. 
  • Create and implement UI artwork within defined look & feel. 
  • Design and implement user interfaces that are intuitive, responsive, and visually engaging. 
  • Create vector artwork, iconography, and export rasterized assets that are high quality and optimized for the game. 
  • Collaborate with game designers, artists, and engineers to ensure UI/UX meets project requirements. 
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to communicate design concepts. 
  • Conduct user testing and gather feedback to refine UI/UX designs. 
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to UI/UX best practices across the game. 
  • Optimize UI for different platforms, including PC, consoles, and mobile devices. 
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and incorporate new techniques into your work. 

Core Qualifications 

  • 7+ years of experience in UI/UX design within the video game industry. 
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, or similar. 
  • Experience implementing UI/UX in Unreal. 
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles. 
  • Experience with responsive design and adaptive layouts. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong portfolio showcasing previous UI/UX design work in games. 
  • Possess a strong graphic design background and/or understanding of design principles. 
  • A strong understanding of systems design, UI style, layout, and 2D fundamentals. 

Plus if... 

  • Experience with motion graphics and animation for UI elements. 
  • Knowledge of front-end development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). 
  • Previous work on AAA titles or high-profile indie games. 

Description 

  • Full-time job with benefits. 
  • Role is on-site in Santa Monica, CA. 
  • Office is located near downtown Santa Monica – near metro and freeway. 

The base pay range for this position is $150,000 to $190,000 per year. Actual compensation is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We also offer a competitive package of benefits including vacation time, sick time, company holidays, parental leave, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) matching to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
