Legal Counsel

This is a unique opportunity to join a lean legal team which will give you wide ownership and the experience of supporting multiple functions of the business that will directly contribute to our mission of global connectivity in the next phase of hypergrowth.

In this role, you will participate in driving high-profile cross-functional initiatives across the business involving a variety of complex legal and regulatory issues relating to the space technology sector. You will partner closely with our supply chain and business teams to build and strengthen relationships with our vendors and business partners, including negotiating contracts and managing disputes. Our ideal person exhibits sharp analytical and communication skills, that is diligent, proactive, collaborative, and curious. 

Role
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including supply chain/vendor agreements, purchase orders, subcontracts, service agreements, capacity purchase agreements, and other bespoke agreements. 
  • Play a key role in managing Astranis’ USG contracting compliance obligations and export compliance programs, undertaking special projects and other commercial support initiatives
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA accredited law school and membership in at least one U.S. state bar 
  • 5+ years of attorney experience; a mix of regulatory, law firm, and/or in-house experience is a plus
  • Direct experience drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts  
  • Fluency translating legal advice into strategic, actionable guidance for innovative product and business teams
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and high attention to detail without sacrificing sense of urgency
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects effectively with minimal supervision
  • Issue-spotting and problem-solving skills. and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Bonus
  • Demonstrated experience in aerospace, hardware, or manufacturing industries
  • Knowledge of EAR/ITAR 
  • USG Contracting; Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance

Base pay is just one component of Astranis’s total rewards package. Astranis pay ranges are informed and defined through professional-grade salary surveys and compensation data sources. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, and the level and scope of the position.
Base Salary
$190,000$270,000 USD
U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required
