We are seeking a Bilingual Contracts Lawyer with strong proficiency in both French and English to support the review, drafting, and negotiation of commercial agreements in both languages.

As SSA Legal Specialist, you'll support the commercial side of the business, which will include contract development and agreement management, external customer sales of products and services, and government contracting.

As a Legal Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Being responsible for conducting legal reviews of contracts, identifying and mitigating legal risks, ensuring contractual consistency between French and English versions, and providing practical legal advice to internal stakeholders, handle legal operations initiatives, including, outside counsel management, and reporting on key legal performance metrics.
  • Reviewing and negotiation of contracts and agreement for provision of oilfield services and equipment in the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors. This includes master service agreements, commercial / pricing agreements, job-specific agreements, software license agreements, bids, tenders, non-disclosure agreements, subcontracts and other agreements common to the oil & gas industry.
  • Supporting the bilingual contracting needs of the business while ensuring legal accuracy, consistency, and business alignment across French and English contractual documentation.
  • Handling legal operations initiatives, including, outside counsel management, and reporting on key legal performance metrics.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in law from an accredited university or college.
  • Have 5+ years of experience negotiating commercial contracts, with at least 2 years in the oil & gas industry.
  • Have proven experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts in French and English.
  • Have an applicable license to practice law.
  • Being fluent in both French and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Being experience in supporting a global business.
  • Have experience in advising leaders on contract law, risk exposure, and legal concepts, including the practical application in a business environment.
  • Have excellent analytical and writing skills.
  • Have the ability to work independently and manage multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and distill complex issues and data into easy-to-understand communications.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to lead programs / projects.
