About Fundamental

Fundamental is an AI company pioneering the future of enterprise decision-making. Founded by DeepMind alumni, Fundamental has developed NEXUS – the world's most powerful Large Tabular Model (LTM) – purpose-built for the structured records that actually drive enterprise decisions. Backed by world class investors and trusted by Fortune 100 companies, Fundamental unlocks trillions of dollars of value by giving businesses the Power to Predict.

At Fundamental, you'll work on unprecedented technical challenges in foundation model development and build technology that transforms how the world's largest companies make decisions. This is your opportunity to be part of a category-defining company from the ground-up. Join the team defining the future of enterprise AI.

About the role

This is Fundamental's first legal hire: a high-ownership role for a commercially oriented attorney who wants to operate in the engine room of a fast-moving AI company, not manage a team of associates. You'll be the day-to-day legal resource for the business: reviewing and negotiating a high volume of commercial contracts, owning the NDA process end-to-end, advising internal stakeholders.

You'll work closely with the Head of Operations and founders, and partner directly with our outside counsel on more complex matters. We're not looking for someone who needs to be managed; we're looking for someone who can handle routine legal work with judgment and speed, flag risk clearly, analyze risk with business-driven pragmatism, and knows when to escalate.

Key responsibilities
  • Own the full contract lifecycle for commercial agreements (MSAs, SaaS subscriptions, SOWs, POC agreements, DPAs, security addenda, AI addenda, and vendor contracts) in partnership with outside counsel and the Operations & Commercial teams

  • Review, redline, and negotiate NDAs at volume

  • Build and maintain scalable contracting infrastructure, including standard form agreements, negotiation playbooks, and implement a CLM system

  • Advise GTM, partnerships, and finance teams on contractual risk and liability exposure

  • Coordinate outside counsel on relevant matters: briefing, tracking deliverables, managing timelines

  • Assist where needed with corporate and employment matters across our US, French, and Israeli entities, including IP assignments, offer letters, and contractor agreements

Must have
  • 5–7 years of legal experience

  • Significant time at a recognized technology or venture/emerging growth firm (Gunderson Dettmer, Cooley, Fenwick & West, Wilson Sonsini, Goodwin, Orrick, or equivalent)

  • Proven ability to own high-volume commercial work and operate in a distributed environment with minimal oversight and structure

  • Detail-oriented, rigorous, and pragmatic; you value speed and precision equally

  • Sees automation as part of the job, not someone else's problem

  • Thrives under pressure; our company moves fast and we expect the same from our team

  • Low-ego, ownership-driven, and energized by building from first principles

Nice to have
  • In-house experience at a technology company, and especially supporting enterprise SaaS

  • Familiarity with data privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA) and emerging AI regulation

  • Exposure to multi-entity or cross-border corporate structures

Benefits
  • Competitive compensation with salary and equity

  • Comprehensive health coverage for you and your dependents, including medical, dental, vision, and 401K

  • Paid parental leave for all new parents, inclusive of adoptive and surrogate journeys

  • Relocation support for employees moving to join the team in one of our office locations

  • A mission-driven, low-ego culture that values diversity of thought, ownership, and bias toward action
