The Optum family of businesses is seeking a License EAP Counselor (Remote) to join our team. As a member of the Optum Behavioral Care team, you'll be an integral part of our vision to make healthcare better for everyone.
Work Schedule: Full-Time at 40 HPW (Overnight & Weekends)
The License EAP Counselor (Remote) is a professional position responsible for providing counseling telephonically or onsite for behavioral health and employee assistance services. Includes assessment and triage, short-term problem resolution, and referrals.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $28.94 to $51.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements
- Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems
- Solves moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analyses
- Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks
- Translate concepts into practice
- Provides explanations and information to others on difficult issues Coaches, provide feedback, and guides others
- Acts as a resource for others with less experience
- EAP Licensed Specialist are the National Point of Contact (NPOC) for non-licensed EAP Specialists
- Additionally, Licensed Specialists conduct telephonic, on-line (chat) and video consultations with individual members
- Provides clinical expertise to conduct a thorough assessment of risk to self or others, clinical screening for substance abuse and medical co-morbidities for member calls
- Solution Focused Consultation, Motivational Interviewing, and short-term problem resolution are the clinical modalities used to develop an individualized action plan
- Within the context of the consultation, the EAP Specialists guide individuals to appropriate benefits and resources provided by employer, community, and other cross-carrier vendors
- EAP Specialists coordinate and facilitate the response to high-risk situations through consultation with licensed staff or leadership

Required Qualifications:
- Masters / Doctoral degree in a recognized behavioral health discipline
- Current, unrestricted, state of California license at the independent practice level
- 2+ post Masters experience in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field, or a CEAP designation
- Familiarity with EAP services, including intake processes, referral coordination, and crisis intervention protocols
- Must reside in the state of California
- Designated quiet workspace and access to install secure high-speed internet via cable/DSL in your home
Preferred Qualifications:
- EAP experience
- CEAP (or eligible to obtain)
- Experience in call center operations, ideally within an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) or similar behavioral health environment
- Experience in settings such as managed care, private or public clinics, with emphasis on mental health, chemical dependency, and workplace issues
- Proficiency using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and MS Office applications (Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Proven solid written and verbal communication skills
- Proven solid interpersonal skills required and the ability to work effectively among different levels of management and personnel
- Proven solid organizational skills with the ability to manage stressful situations and multiple competing priorities
