The Role:
We are seeking a Looker Data Engineer for a project-based assignment to support a key client initiative. This role will focus on building and optimizing data models, developing scalable reporting solutions, and enabling data-driven decision-making through Looker and modern data stack technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Looker development, data modeling, and programmatic reporting, along with a solid foundation in SQL and cloud data platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Looker data models, including LookML, models, and explores
- Build and optimize scalable, consumable data models to support business intelligence and strategic decision-making
- Utilize Looker API 4.0 to enable programmatic access to dashboards, looks, and explores
- Automate report generation and delivery using Looker API endpoints
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries to improve performance and efficiency
- Work with Snowflake, dbt, and Python to support data transformation and pipeline development
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate data requirements into scalable BI solutions
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance across reporting layers
Required Skills:
- 3+ years Looker development experience (LookML, models, explores)
- Experience working with Looker API 4.0 for programmatic access
- Experience automating reporting using Looker API endpoints
- Ability to transform complex data into scalable, consumable data models
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Python
- SQL experience with query optimization
Nice to Have:
- Looker administration experience
- Experience working with BigQuery
- Experience with modern data pipelines and ELT workflows
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality, or BI best practices
- Experience working in a client-facing or consulting environment
Employment Type:
