Lower & Middle School Coaching Opportunities, 26 - 27 School Year
The Harker School is hiring part-time seasonal coaches for the 2026–2027 lower and middle school sports seasons.
Coaches support and guide student-athletes in grades 4–8 (ages 9–13) by leading athletic teams throughout the 2026–2027 school year. Working across multiple sports and seasons, coaches promote skill development, discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive, growth-oriented approach to competition.

Fall
Cross Country: Aug 25-Oct 9, Mon-Fri, 3-5:30pm
Girls lacrosse: Aug 25-Oct 9, Tu/W/F, 3-5:30pm
Swimming: Aug 25-Oct 9, Mon-Fri, 3-6pm
Flag football: Aug 25-Oct 9, Mon-Fri, 3-5:30pm
Softball: Aug 25-Oct 9, Mon-Fri, 3-5:30pm
Early Winter
Boys basketball: Oct 12-Dec 11, Mon-Fri, 3-5:30pm
Girls soccer: Oct 12-Dec 11, Mon-Fri, 3-5:30pm
Late Winter
Boys soccer: Jan 4-Mar 5, Mon-Fri, 3-5:30pm
Girls basketball: Jan 4-Mar 5, Mon-Fri, 3-5:30pm
Spring
Track: Mar 8-May 7, Mon-Fri, 3-5:30pm
Boys volleyball: Mar 8-May 7, Mon-Fri, 3-5:30pm
Girls volleyball: Mar 8-May 7, Mon-Fri, 3-5:30pm
Water polo: Mar 8-May 7, Tue/W/F, 3-5:30pm
Baseball: Mar 8-May 7, Tue/W/F, 3-5:30pm
Tennis: Mar 8-May 7, Mon-Fri, 3-6:30pm
Applicants may indicate interest in assisting with one or multiple sports/seasons.
QualificationsQualifications- Must be at least 15 years of age
- Experience working with children preferred
- Comfortable working with and around school-age children
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred or required upon hire
- Previous coaching or playing experience preferred (1–2 years preferred)
- Effectively manage and supervise groups of students during practices and games
- Maintain accurate attendance records
- Support the organization and implementation of practice plans and game strategies
- Communicate effectively with the Athletic Director, fellow coaches, students, and parents
- Stay informed regarding weekly sports communications, schedule updates, and program changes
- Complete miscellaneous tasks and duties as assigned
- Attend coaches meetings and mandatory seasonal parent meetings
- Promote fair play, teamwork, and sportsmanship among student-athletes
- Help ensure the safety and appropriate behavior of students during practices, games, and travel
- Assist with related duties as required or assigned
- Ability to work with and coach students ages 9–13
- Knowledge of or experience participating in the sport(s) of interest
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
- Ability to maintain a positive and encouraging environment for student-athletes
- May require extended periods of standing or walking
- Majority of time may be spent outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold
- Schedule may include evenings and weekends based on practice and game schedules
