The Opportunity
The Manager serves as a workstream leader within Alpha Alternatives’ Data Strategy segment, driving delivery across complex private markets data transformation initiatives. Positioned within the Front & Middle Office team, the Manager oversees structured components of enterprise programs spanning front-, middle-, and back-office workflows, with deep involvement across data domains such as Client, Fund, Investment, Deal, Portfolio Company, Exposure, Cashflows, Valuations, and IR-related datasets. Managers translate business strategy into domain structures, operating model components, governance frameworks, and conceptual architectural implications. They coordinate across business stakeholders, data owners, and technical teams to ensure cohesive, high-quality workstream outcomes that support the broader target-state vision.
Responsibilities
- Lead one or more workstreams within private markets data strategy and operating model engagements, owning the plan, delivery cadence, and quality of outcomes.
- Drive cross-functional alignment across business, data, and technology stakeholders to establish shared priorities, clarify dependencies, and enable timely decision-making.
- Translate business objectives into data strategy, governance needs, and business-led data enablement requirements that are practical and implementable.
- Establish consistent domain definitions, taxonomies, and ownership constructs that reduce fragmentation and improve cross-team execution.
- Facilitate workshops that align stakeholders on process improvements, decision requirements, and how data should support target business outcomes.
- Produce executive-ready materials for senior stakeholders that simplify complexity, highlight decisions required, and enable action.
- Develop and mentor project team members by providing clear direction, structured feedback, and rigorous quality review across deliverables.
Qualifications and Skills
- 6 – 9+ years of experience in consulting, private markets, asset management, or data strategy roles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead workstreams and drive day-to-day execution in complex, cross-functional advisory engagements.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align business and technology leaders toward shared outcomes.
- Ability to structure ambiguous problems into clear approaches, priorities, and decision pathways, balancing rigor with practicality.
- Strong command of private markets business processes and how data enables improved decision-making, transparency, and operating efficiency.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, including leading workshops and translating discussion into aligned next steps and decisions.
- Strong literacy in modern cloud-native data platform tools across ingestion, processing, storage, governance, and visualization, sufficient to guide business-led architectural decisions in partnership with technical teams.
- Proven ability to coach and develop junior team members through clear direction, feedback, and quality oversight.
