Snapdocs is a rapidly growing company that is disrupting the residential mortgage market, bringing scalable and sophisticated software to a pillar of the US economy that still relies on fax machines and manila envelopes. Today, 20% of real estate transactions are processed through our platform. Our products rely on carefully designed workflows, AI-based automations, and empathetic user experiences to deliver best-in-class customer experiences. We are backed by investors like Sequoia, Y Combinator, and F-Prime.

We are an innovative team. As we expand our product offering to serve more customers in more ways, we need to grow our team with smart, hungry, and curious people. That’s where you come in…

Main Purpose

Lead, mentor, and scale a small but critical DevOps team responsible for Snapdocs’ CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, security automation, cost governance, and emerging MLOps practices. You'll combine deep technical expertise (Linux, Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions) with strong people-management skills to ensure our platform is fast, secure, reliable—and cost-efficient.

Key Responsibilities1. Team Leadership & Growth
  • Hire, onboard, coach and develop your four Senior DevOps Engineers.
  • Run regular 1:1s, performance reviews and career-path planning.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous learning and experimentation.
2. Strategic & Technical Ownership
  • Define and evangelize the DevOps & MLOps roadmap: infrastructure architecture, CI/CD evolution, model-ops processes, security automation, cost optimization, alerting.
  • Hands-on design and implementation of cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, EKS, Terraform, GitOps).
  • Build and manage MLOps workflows—model training, versioning, deployment and monitoring—using frameworks like MLflow or Kubeflow.
  • Oversee and extend our GitHub Actions–powered pipelines: integrating security scans, unit & functional tests, blue/green or canary deployments.
  • Advocate and enforce “infrastructure-as-code” and “policy-as-code” across both software and ML workflows.
3. Collaboration & Governance
  • Partner with Software Engineering Managers, Security Architects, Product Managers to translate business requirements into infrastructure and MLOps priorities.
  • Establish best practices, runbooks, SLOs/SLIs and on-call rotations.
  • Present architecture and model-ops proposals to stakeholders; secure buy-in and budget approval.
  •
  • Work with external partners to build secure connections to other enterprise systems.
4. Operational Excellence & Cost Governance
  • Monitor system health, capacity and cost; drive continuous performance tuning and right-sizing efforts.
  • Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure spend and Datadog usage costs while establishing budgeting practices.
  • Troubleshoot high-impact production incidents, lead post-mortems, and implement preventive measures.
  • Maintain compliance readiness for ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II audits through well-documented controls and automation.
  •
  • Work with your team to identify improvements to development and runtime operations.
Key Relationships
  • Direct: Senior DevOps Engineers (your team)
  • Cross-functional: Software Engineering Managers, Security Architects, Product Managers, Data Science Leads
  • Executive: VP of Engineering
Key Competencies

Required

  • 7+ years in DevOps/SRE/cloud infrastructure roles, with ≥2 years managing engineers

  • Hands-on with Kubernetes orchestration and observability (CloudWatch, Datadog)
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and decision-making skills

Preferred

  • Experience with multi-region/high-availability architectures
  • Familiarity with service meshes (Istio, Linkerd), Helm, ArgoCD/Flux
  • Demonstrated MLOps expertise: model versioning, deployment, monitoring (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow)
