POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager of Financial Innovation, Integration and Transformation reports to the VP & CFO Care Delivery with the underlying goal of implementing the Finance Roadmap (strategic transformation plan).  This role works with leaders across the Finance (and adjacent areas) to identify and execute strategic initiatives that pave the way to achieving our vision of a world-class Finance organization. The manager will support efforts to identify leading practices, improve processes, enhance systems, and realign the Finance organization to realize opportunities. These initiatives are high visibility projects sponsored by the VP & CFO Care Delivery to help Finance achieve its long-term goals.

Specifically, the manager will lead workstreams within the context of a larger effort, gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing actionable recommendations. This role will help present the Finance team's findings to senior Finance stakeholders, implement recommendations, and begin to build long-term trusted advisor relationships with Finance counterparts. Specific tasks will include creating PowerPoint presentations to communicate and influence senior system leadership, both within Finance Transformation as well as other functions. The manager may also develop, own and modify detailed Excel models to conduct what-if analyses and perform other analytical tasks under the purview of the VP & CFO Care Delivery.

The ideal candidate will be curious, analytical, and confident, with a natural drive to exceed immediate project requirements. A genuine passion for Transformation, combined with relationship-building, leadership, and communication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transformation

  • Participate in a broad range of finance transformation projects including the design and implementation of finance transformation solutions from assessment through implementation.

  • Ensures the success of the Finance team and its partners by establishing key metrics, facilitating working team meetings, identifying and helping to mitigate risks and issues, developing content, and ensuring Finance Roadmap results are met

  • Serve as the finance arm of the organization's performance improvement program, supporting cross-functional performance improvement efforts and ensuring initiatives are grounded in sound financial analysis and reporting

  • Empowered self-starter comfortable taking lead on initiatives with an ability to effectively collaborate across teams

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to make connections across workstreams and matrixed organizations

  • Independently operate as the financial/operational lead for strategic and transformation initiatives

  • Demonstrated strong analytical, project management, and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including facility with Excel and PowerPoint

Integration

  • Drives coordination within Finance and the broader organization to ensure decisions/results are properly recognized across the business for planning, forecasting and other purposes.

  • Focus on building partnerships and harmony among finance teams (Decision Support and FP&A) and technology (e.g. Strata, HealthQlix)

  • Align the Financial Roadmap to operational requirements to ensure performance is insightful and accurate, and that end-users will interact and partner with Finance under new tools and processes

  • Create documentation around current data system capabilities, functions, and limitations to ensure no reporting gaps in Roadmap

Innovation

  • Assist in positioning the finance team to be forward-thinking with the ability adapt to internal/external changes as well roles and expectations are understood and accepted

  • Recommend adjustments to the Roadmap, through researching best practices, as well as performing cost-benefit analysis on all proposed changes, internal or external

  • Drive automation and efficient processes to add redundancy while increasing productivity across Finance

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree in Business (Finance, Accounting, Economics), Public Health, Public Administration or Health Administration

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with Healthcare Finance, Finance Transformation, Organizational Transformation or Strategy Consulting

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • A strategic systems-thinker with sound financial and technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and a strong implementation focus.

  • An excellent communicator who can present to multiple levels of staff from Executive to staff (both clinical and non-clinical)

  • Passionate, optimistic, forward-thinking, and willing to take calculated risks.

  • A humble leader with high standards who takes ownership for delivering a high quality deliverables

  • Strong interpersonal skills required; ability to listen effectively with discernment and understanding required 

  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives, identify and prioritize issues to meet aggressive deadlines and organizational goals

  • Ability to foster trust and collaboration within and throughout a complex variety of departments, specialties and with clinicians in multiple disciplines when indicated

  • Superior project management skills; ability to oversee other colleagues that manage projects

  • High degree of accountability

  • Intellectual curiosity to move beyond first order questions and foster deeper understanding

  • Willingness to accept new responsibilities as needed to support the organization

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to operate independently with good judgement and at times with minimal supervision

  • Proven ability to interface with senior leaders as well as assume a leadership role within projects; ability to work with varying levels and roles of management and professionals including physicians

  • Superior analytic and problem-solving skills with a high value in data integrity and analytic accuracy.

  • Must have superior communication skills and the ability to coach and develop a diverse team.

  • Proven time-management abilities, multitasking with effective priority definition, and demonstrated flexibility with a focus on meeting deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to own processes, to identify issues and opportunities for improvement, and implement such improvements.

  • Understanding of financial and accounting metrics and reporting, as it relates to managing a complex business and informing decision making

  • Utilize BMC’s Values as the basis for decision making

  • Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures as applicable to the job

Compensation Range:

$122,000.00- $177,000.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
