HHAeXchange is seeking a Manager, IDD Software Engineering to lead and actively contribute to the development of our technology supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role is both a leadership and hands-on engineering position. The manager is expected to guide a team of engineers while also writing code, troubleshooting complex issues, and contributing directly to system improvements.
This role partners closely with product, customer success, and operations teams to align engineering work with customer needs and business priorities. Responsibilities include sprint planning, backlog prioritization, delivery accountability, mentoring and onboarding engineers, and driving continuous improvement in development practices. This role will also help identify technical risks, advocate for resources, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of solutions.

Essential Job Duties
- Lead and actively contribute to the design, development, testing, and delivery of I/DD software solutions, including hands-on coding, refactoring, and optimization.
- Own delivery for the I/DD engineering roadmap by prioritizing work, managing sprint execution, and aligning engineering efforts with business and customer needs.
- Partner closely with Product, Operations, Support, Implementation, and Client Success to understand requirements, address customer pain points, and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineers through code reviews, best practices, and ongoing technical guidance, while supporting hiring and team growth as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes using Agile and Scrum practices to increase throughput, reduce defects, and minimize rework.
- Ensure timely resolution of complex customer issues, including Tier 3 escalations, and act as a technical subject matter expert for the I/DD platform.
- Advocate for engineering and DevOps excellence, including system performance, reliability, and security, to protect PHI and support long-term platform stability.
- Track delivery progress, identify risks, and escalate resource or timeline concerns while advocating for investments needed to meet commitments.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong full-stack development expertise.
- 2+ years of experience leading or managing software engineering teams, including mentoring and performance development in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to remain hands-on with the codebase, with an expectation to spend a portion of time actively coding, reviewing code, and engaging in technical design and architecture.
- Experience with technologies including C#, .NET Framework, .NET, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Angular, cloud architectures (AWS/Azure), event-driven systems (e.g., RabbitMQ), and financial systems such as accounting, billing, and payroll.
- Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and delivery execution.
- Demonstrated engineering leadership with a focus on building high-performing, collaborative teams, including experience working with hybrid US/India teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with cross-functional partners and leadership.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities, drive results, and take ownership of outcomes while remaining adaptable in a changing environment.

The base salary range for this US-based, full-time, and exempt position is $130,000-145,000/yr not including variable compensation. An employee’s exact starting salary will be based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, merit, location, and the ability to exemplify the HHAeXchange core values.
