What is the opportunity?
Omnissa Horizon is a hybrid VDI platform providing secure virtual desktops and applications, on-premises or in the cloud, to any device. It enables IT to quickly provision, manage, and scale digital workspaces using technologies like Instant Clone and App Volumes. Our team is seeking a skilled manager to own key functionality in the Provisioning, deployment and continuous product development area for Horizon product stack.
As a Manager, Engineering you will develop new product features for both On-Prem and Cloud stack. You will enhance existing products with new customer requirements. You will collaborate with product managers, engineers and customers to solve problems and translate ideas into software reality. As a part of this, you will be a part of a collaborative environment whose teams care about the product they are creating, how they create it, and the impact it has on customers’ business objectives. You will be managing an engineering team of 8-12 people in this role. Here's a breakdown:
- Manage and lead a highly skilled engineering team.
- Driving and delivering new features in the Provisioning space for Horizon product. Identifying areas of enhancement for the existing product offering, tools and processes.
- Managing customer issues and escalations in the areas of ownership.
- Managing team activities to meet delivery milestones, communicating status and risks to engineering leads and release team.
- Responsible for hiring, compensation and bonus planning for the team.
- Overseeing daily engineering activities for the team including stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, architectural reviews, customer support, and release readiness.
- Setting goals for the team members, coaching engineers thereby fostering their sustainable growth, training and mentoring junior engineers.
What will you bring to Omnissa?
- Engineering Manager with combined industry experience of at least 12 years, including a minimum of 4 years of technical leadership experience managing a team of software engineers.
- The candidate should have a strong background in architecting and either designing enterprise software or cloud services.
- 8 or more years of hands-on experience in software development including writing code using Java and C/C++ on Windows or Linux Platform
- BS or higher in Computer Science or related disciplines. MS or PHD will be given preference.
- Passion for technology, accountability and dose of self-motivation
- Experience with object-oriented design and multi-threaded programming
- Knowledge of OS internals on Windows
- Experience in large, distributed software systems
- Experience in Cloud Platform such as Azure or AWS or OpenShift or hypervisors such as Vsphere or AHV
- Experience in AI technologies is a bonus

Compensation: The typical base salary for this role is between USD $208,237 – $347,062 per year and it may be eligible for participation in a corporate bonus program. Actual compensation offer may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, or other relevant factors.
