Manager, Supply Chain – Logistics

About Otto Aerospace

OTTO is developing the world’s first fifth-generation business jet, designed for sustainability through the innovative use of advanced super-laminar aerodynamics and high-precision, net-shaped composites. Flight tests of our technology demonstrator validate a dramatic reduction in fuel burn and allow a sizeable improvement in cabin comfort. Otto Aerospace is designing world-class aircraft from first-principles physics and delivering ground-breaking aircraft and economic performance.

About the Role

As the manager, you will be responsible for establishing and leading all logistics operations supporting a clean-sheet aircraft development program—from prototype and flight test through to production ramp-up. This is a unique opportunity to architect the company’s logistics and material flow strategy from the ground up, encompassing transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and global trade compliance. You will lead a small, high-performing team and develop the processes, systems, and partnerships needed to ensure the efficient and compliant movement of materials worldwide. This role is ideal for a hands-on, strategic leader who excels in building scalable logistics frameworks in dynamic, startup environments.

About the Department

The Supply Chain organization is at the heart of the company’s industrial strategy, enabling the transition from innovative design to production reality. The department’s mission is to establish a world-class supply base and integrated value chain supporting the full lifecycle of the aircraft program—from concept and prototype through certification and full-rate production. Within this organization, the Logistics team ensures the seamless flow of materials and information across the global supply chain, connecting suppliers, manufacturing, and test operations. The team focuses on end-to-end logistics execution, including transportation, trade compliance, warehousing, and material control. Collaboration, precision, and continuous improvement define how the team operates—working closely with Planning, Production, and Quality to ensure material availability, compliance, and cost efficiency.

What You'll Do

  • Build and lead the Supply Chain – Logistics team, including hiring, training, and developing logistics and material control professionals
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive logistics strategy that supports prototype, flight test, and production phases
  • Establish and manage domestic and international transportation networks (air, ocean, and ground) for inbound and outbound materials
  • Define and implement warehouse and material handling processes for efficiency, accuracy, and traceability. Lead global trade compliance, including import/export controls, HTS classification, and adherence to  ITAR/EAR regulations
  • Develop inventory control systems and KPIs ensuring materials are stored, handled, and delivered per program requirements
  • Negotiate and manage logistics service provider (LSP) contracts, optimizing cost, service level, and reliability
  • Partner with Planning, Procurement, and Production to align logistics capacity with build schedules and ramp-up requirements
  • Implement digital tools and processes to enable visibility, performance tracking, and data-driven decision-making
  • Drive a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across all logistics operations

Who You Are

 Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field
  • MBA or equivalent advanced education considered an asset
  • Professional certifications (e.g., SCMP, APICS, CPSM, CILT, PMP) preferred

Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in aerospace or advanced manufacturing logistics and supply chain operations
  • Proven track record in establishing and managing logistics networks supporting complex, global manufacturing programs
  • Experience building logistics processes or teams from the ground up in a fast-paced, scaling environment
  • Hands-on experience in international shipping, trade compliance, and customs operations
  • Experience supporting development, prototype, and low-rate production programs
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional logistics improvement initiatives

 Required Skills

  • Strong leadership with a process-builder mindset—able to create efficient systems and teams in a startup environment
  • Deep understanding of transportation modes, warehousing, material handling, and inventory management
  • Excellent negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, WMS, and logistics visibility tools
  • Knowledge of trade compliance, ITAR/EAR regulations, and export documentation
  • Highly organized, data-driven, and able to lead through ambiguity with a continuous improvement focus
  • Collaborative communicator able to influence cross-functional stakeholders and external partners
