The Command Center Software (CCSW) organization specializes in performing software and hardware delivery. The Command Center Software (CCSW) Platform Migration organization focus is on minimizing the customer's downtime during software upgrades in order to optimize their maintenance experience during the moments that matter.
Job Description

The Manager, System Engineering Specialist reports to the Platform Migration Director and is responsible for all Solutions delivery activities. The Manager leads the team by providing guidance, mentoring, training and supporting team members. The Manager should have a strong technical background and experience leading technology delivery and/or support teams.  The manager should be a stellar communicator who is able to speak with ease to both technical resources and customers using appropriate, understandable terms.  

The Manager sets goals, completes performance reviews, schedules resources, monitors day-to-day team member activities, plans training and development activity for team members, and performs typical management activities.  The manager is responsible for implementing strategic initiatives and should have a passion for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

The Manager has further responsibility of working directly with the ESI Lab leadership to ensure upgrade migration paths are thoroughly tested with procedures for deployment tested.  In addition they will be responsible for collaborating with team members ensuring all product lifecycle is communicated in a timely manner for efficient delivery while working with the CCSW Contracts team to understand Motorola Solutions contractual responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Sets goals, completes performance reviews, schedules resources, and monitors day-to-day team member activities.

  • Plans training and development activity for team members and performs typical management activities.

  • Implements strategic initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

  • Works directly with the ESI Lab leadership to ensure upgrade migration paths are thoroughly tested with procedures for deployment tested.

  • Collaborates with team members ensuring all product lifecycle is communicated in a timely manner for efficient delivery.

  • Works with the CCSW Contracts team to understand Motorola Solutions contractual responsibilities.

  • Provides guidance, mentoring, training and support to team members.

Qualifications
  • Experience in the design and implementation of complex systems, including integration with 3rd party products and services.

  • Deep knowledge of Public Safety operating environments.

  • Familiarity with Next Generation Public Safety trends and standards.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of:

    • Server Virtualization, specifically with VMWare and OpenShift.

    • Database Servers, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server.

    • Networking (TCP/IP Protocols).

  • Must have previous experience managing a team of professionals.

  • Experience leading highly complex projects.

  • Experience leading and directing the work activities of teams across organizational/functional boundaries.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to make decisions, troubleshoot issues, identify mitigation strategies and exercise good judgment in selection of methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with regional and territorial management, and senior leadership.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with relevant peer and senior stakeholders.

  • Excellent presentation skills are required.

Target Base Salary Range: $110,000 - 120,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related field.

  • 10+ years experience in technology project deployment and integration and/or operations and administration.

  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
