Job Description

Teledyne ETM seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer

Join a team at Teledyne ETM in Newark, CA building high-power microwave and high-energy X-Ray products for demanding industrial, scientific, defense, and medical applications.  We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who thrives at the intersection of engineering and production — diagnosing complex issues, improving processes, and enabling successful product launches.

This role reports into Engineering but is closely aligned with Manufacturing, serving as a key technical leader on the production floor and a critical contributor to New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts from prototype through production ramp.

What You’ll Do

  • Own production support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues across RF, high-voltage, and power electronic systems at component, board, and system levels
  • Drive root cause & corrective action: Lead structured investigations and implement effective CAPA
  • Lead NPI execution:
    • Support prototype and pilot builds, ensuring smooth transition from engineering to production
    • Identify manufacturing risks early and drive mitigation plans
    • Develop initial assembly flows, test strategies, and process documentation
    • Collaborate with engineering on DFM and design readiness for production
  • Build and improve manufacturing processes: Develop, document, and optimize processes under formal change control (ECOs)
  • Enable robust testing: Use RF and electronic instrumentation (oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, power meters, HV systems) to ensure repeatable production testing
  • Elevate the team: Train and coach assemblers and technicians to improve diagnostics, reporting, and execution quality
  • Advance automation: Develop and implement fixtures, tooling, and automated test systems to increase efficiency and consistency
  • Partner cross-functionally: Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to drive product maturity, yield improvement, and production readiness
  • Use data to drive decisions: Monitor yield, analyze trends, and implement improvements to quality and throughput

What You Bring

Required:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years in manufacturing/test engineering or production support for high-power electronics and/or RF systems
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills (bench to system level)
  • Experience with RF and electronic test equipment
  • Ability to interpret schematics, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Effective communication with the ability to bridge engineering and production teams
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Department of State

Preferred:

  • Experience with new product transfer to manufacturing
  • RF amplifiers, pulsed power, or high-voltage systems experience
  • Familiarity with automated test systems (ATE, LabVIEW, etc.)
  • Familiarity with encapsulated / potted electronics
  • Experience in regulated environments (ISO 9001, AS9100)
  • Lean / Six Sigma or formal root cause methodology experience

Work Environment & Requirements

  • Hands-on role with significant time on the production floor
  • Fast-paced, low-to-mid volume / high-complexity environment
  • Occasional travel (<10%)

Why Join Us?

  • Work on technically complex, high-impact RF and power systems
  • Play a key role in bringing new products into production
  • Strong ownership at the engineering–manufacturing interface
  • Opportunity to drive automation, innovation, and process excellence

Salary Range:

$120,300.00-$160,400.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
