JPI has an exciting opportunity for a Marketing & Communications Intern to join our team located in San Diego, California.
The Marketing & Communications Intern will support JPI’s corporate communications, digital presence, and brand marketing initiatives. This role plays an important part in developing marketing collateral, supporting media and industry engagement, and assisting with internal and external events. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to gain hands-on experience across a wide spectrum of marketing and communications work.
This position will report to the Marketing Specialist.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

 Marketing Collateral

  • Assist in maintaining and implementing the company Brand Strategy and Style Guide.

  • Support the creation of marketing collateral, including presentations, flyers, decks, and branded materials.

  • Contribute to photography, videography, and graphic design needs across projects.

Digital Presence

  • Assist in the maintenance and content updates of the JPI website (WordPress).

  • Support JPI’s social media content planning, scheduling, and engagement.

  • Help coordinate executive social media participation, including drafting posts and preparing suggested content.

Media Participation

  • Support media monitoring efforts and compile regular media analysis reports.

  • Assist with drafting and editing press releases, media statements, and op-eds.

  • Coordinate logistics for executive interviews, including background preparation and briefing materials.

Industry Participation

  • Conduct research on industry publications, awards, and recognition opportunities.

  • Assist with award submissions and tracking relevant deadlines.

  • Support conference preparation, including materials, bios, and speaking engagement documentation.

Events

  • Assist with planning and execution of employee engagement events.

  • Support investor appreciation and social events through logistics, communication, and onsite coordination.

Engagement Analysis & Reporting

  • Produce engagement reports for social media, campaigns, events, and media efforts.

  • Track KPIs and help identify trends and areas for improvement.

Non-essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing a degree) in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).

  • Experience using Canva or alternate design software.

  • Familiarity with WordPress and email marketing platforms (e.g., Campaign Monitor).

  • Knowledge of Cision One or similar media tools is helpful.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Social media experience (professional or academic).

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

General Base Pay Range

Please note that this range is intentionally broad, as it reflects compensation for multiple roles across the organization and locations. The actual base pay offered will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s overall experience, skills, internal equity with existing associates, and the Company’s budget at the time of the offer. This range applies to base salary only. Additional compensation, such as bonuses or incentive plans, may be available and will be discussed with the Recruiter during the interview process.

$20 - $23hr
