About SafetyKit

SafetyKit’s mission is to become the world's risk, compliance, and Safety team.

We’re a Series A startup backed by Ribbit Capital, First Round Capital, and Y Combinator, building the AI platform that helps the world’s largest marketplaces, payments providers, and content platforms grow revenue while protecting themselves and their users from bad actors and harmful experiences.

Today, companies spend hundreds of billions of dollars on fragmented monitoring tools, custom ML models, data providers, case management systems, and outsourced review. SafetyKit simplifies and unifies this entire ecosystem into one powerful platform.

We’ve raised $27M, are a 17-person team (majority engineering), and operate fully in person at our San Francisco office. We’re looking for our first marketing hire.

The Role

As our first marketing hire, you will own the entire marketing function at SafetyKit. You’ll shape how the company tells its story, creates demand, and builds its brand in the market. This role requires a generalist mindset — someone equally comfortable designing conference schedules, creating compelling case studies, building product positioning, and driving lead generation campaigns. You may not be a master in all but you have a willingness to learn.

You’ll partner closely with the CEO, GTM teammates, and engineering to define our marketing playbook and scale the foundation for future growth.

Responsibilities
  • Field Marketing: Develop and execute our conference and event strategy, from selecting events to organizing presence and measuring ROI.

  • Brand Marketing: Craft and tell the SafetyKit story through customer case studies, thought leadership, and consistent activity on channels like LinkedIn.

  • Product Marketing: Translate product features into clear customer value propositions, refine messaging, and enable sales with positioning and collateral through Account Based Marketing.

  • Demand Generation: Build and run campaigns across digital and offline channels to drive awareness, pipeline, nurture, and revenue growth.

Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience across multiple marketing functions (field, brand, product, and / or demand gen).

  • Proven ability to independently own projects end-to-end and deliver measurable outcomes.

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills with an eye for brand and design.

  • Experience at a startup or high-growth company where resources are limited and creativity is critical.

  • Willingness to work in-office 5 days a week in San Francisco.

Nice to Haves
  • Experience in Trust & Safety, Risk, or Compliance industries.

  • Prior work marketing to mid-market and enterprise marketplaces, payments providers, content platforms.

About You
  • A self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and takes full ownership.

  • Comfortable being a “jack of all trades” across marketing disciplines.

  • Creative, scrappy, and resourceful with a bias toward action.

  • Equally skilled at strategy and execution — able to zoom out and craft a vision, while rolling up your sleeves to make it happen.

  • Excited to build something big from the ground up.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
