Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Designer or Drafter to spearhead the physical packaging of medical device electronics. In this role, you will take ownership of projects from concept to final assembly, ensuring robust packaging for power supplies, amplifiers, and magnetic components. You will work closely within a tight-knit engineering team to design compliant, high-quality medical products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the mechanical design process from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Package complex medical electronics, including high-power supplies and amplifiers.
  • Model custom magnetic components, such as inductors and transformers.
  • Build, test, and refine physical prototypes using 3D printing and hands-on techniques.
  • Support quality and regulatory compliance by maintaining proper design history files (DHF).
  • Collaborate daily and communicate clearly within a small product design team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Drafting/Design; BSME is preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in a mechanical design role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Extensive, high-level proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software.
    • Strong background in electronics packaging, specifically power electronics.
    • Proven experience modeling magnetics (transformers, inductors, cores).
    • Familiarity with medical device design controls or regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA guidelines) is highly preferred.
  • Practical Skills:
    • Experience with 3D printing for rapid medical prototyping is highly desired.
    • Familiarity with machine shop tools (mills, lathes, drills) is a strong plus.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.

Why Join Us?

  • Real impact: Work on meaningful technology with tangible results
  • Ownership: Take full responsibility for projects and decisions
  • Hands-on innovation: Move beyond theory into real-world design and testing
  • Tight-knit team: Collaborate closely with experienced engineers
  • Growth potential: Expand your expertise across power electronics, embedded systems, and product development
