Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Micron’s Cloud Memory Business Unit (CMBU) Memory Innovation team is responsible for defining and incubating next-generation memory and system architectures for Datacenter and AI workloads. The team works at the intersection of memory technology, comput architecture, software, and ecosystem partnerships to influence Micron’s long-term product and investment strategy.
We are seeking a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) to drive technical pathfinding and innovation in advanced memory architectures for AI/MLdriven datacenter and cloud platforms. This role requires strong, independent technical judgment, the ability to operate in highly ambiguous problem spaces, and close collaboration with internal leadership, customers, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical pathfinding and innovation in memory and system architectures for AI/ML workloads in datacenter and cloud environments.
- Develop forward-looking technical strategies that connect AI workload trends (training, inference, emerging models) to memory, packaging, and system level requirements.
- Serve as a technical authority and thought partner to CMBU leadership on memory technology investments, tradeoffs, and ecosystem implications.
- Build and use analytical models, system abstractions, and software tools to evaluate memory performance, scaling limits, and architectural tradeoffs.
- Collaborate deeply with architecture, design, product planning, and business teams to translate technical insights into actionable strategy.
- Engage with customers, hyperscalers, startups, and industry partners to influence requirements, validate concepts, and shape future directions.
- Represent Micron in technical discussions, industry forums, and innovation partnerships, helping influence broader ecosystem roadmaps.
- Contribute to Micron’s intellectual property portfolio through patents, disclosures, and technical publications.
Minimum Qualifications
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 10+ years of industry experience in memory development, systems design, AI/ML HW and SW implementation.
- Strong background in computer architecture, systems design, or hardware–software codesigns, with relevance to AI, datacenter, or high performance computing.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex system level performance problems, especially memory, bandwidth, latency, and scaling.
- Proven ability to work independently, define problems, and drive technical direction in ambiguous environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of memory architectures (e.g., DRAM, emerging memories) and their impact on AI/ML workloads.
- Experience with AI systems, including training or inference workloads, accelerators (GPU/ASIC), or performance benchmarking.
- Exposure to nearmemory and advanced integration technologies, such as 3D stacking, chiplets, interposers, or heterogeneous packaging.
- Experience building software or analytical models for system evaluation, performance analysis, or architectural exploration.
- Track record of technical influence, such as patents, industry collaboration, customer engagements, or technology evangelism.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge deep technical detail and strategic context.
