The Mgr, Product Engineer role is responsible for guiding a team of engineers in the delivery of high-quality software solutions, blending technical contribution with people leadership, mentoring, and execution support. This position will maintain active involvement in architecture and code while supporting team growth, delivery health, and hiring efforts. This is a "player-coach" role designed to balance engineering excellence with team development.

- Contribute meaningfully to the codebase through feature development, refactoring, and technical improvements.
- Provide architectural guidance, technical direction, and ensure high engineering standards.
- Participate in design discussions and review code to promote best practices.
- Manage direct reports, conducting regular 1:1 meetings focused on mentoring, coaching, and career development.
- Support skill growth, professional development planning, and foster a healthy, collaborative team culture.
- Partner with Product Owner and team to plan and manage scope, supporting realistic sprint planning and delivery timelines
- Identify and mitigate risks impacting delivery, ensuring alignment between technical decisions and product goals.
- Maintain engineering quality while meeting deadlines.
- Recruit, select, train, develop, evaluate, motivate, and retain staff for the successful performance of the department and achievement of company objectives.
- Assist with onboarding new engineers and contribute to shaping team structure and capabilities.
- Perform other duties as requested or as needed to fulfill the purpose of the job.

Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack or product-focused software development
- Strong senior-level engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership
- Prior experience mentoring engineers or serving in an informal team leadership capacity
- Experience with sprint planning, delivery management, and agile development practices
- Hands-on experience with modern full-stack development frameworks, such as React, React Native, Flutter, Node.js, Nest.JS or similar Microsoft stacks (.NET, Azure)
- Experience as a formal engineering manager or tech lead preferred
- Experience with hiring processes, including interviewing and candidate selection preferred
- Familiarity with career framework development and performance coaching preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to balance hands-on development with people leadership responsibilities
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally with product and engineering leadership
- Proven ability to conduct code reviews and uphold engineering standards across a team
- Exposure to enterprise-scale engineering environments preferred.
Wage: $154,000 - $207,000 annually; actual wage is based upon education and experience. Potential for annual discretionary bonus.
