Build, ship, and maintain an Expo/React Native mobile app end-to-end: implement features, optimize performance, integrate native modules (Swift/Kotlin), manage releases (EAS, OTA, staged rollouts), triage crashes, and collaborate with design and web teams to create a fast, delightful messaging experience.
The summary above was generated by AI

Ando is a messaging platform where AI agents can take on work alongside human. We’re rebuilding Slack from the ground up around two core ideas: durable memory and agents as first-class participants.

While we are pushing the frontier, we still have classic messaging challenges to address. Ando has to feel faster, lighter, and more delightful than the tools people use today. The bar is high. People need to want to spend hours of their working lives in Ando, and then convince their teammates and friends to do the same.

We already have a mobile app in the store, but we're looking for someone who really cares about this part of the Ando experience to own things end to end.

What you'll do

  • Ship features in our Expo/React Native app from design through release, including App Store and Play Store submission

  • Set and goal against performance benchmarks - start time, list scrolling, animation smoothness, bundle size - and instrument the app so regressions get caught before users do

  • Drop into native (Swift/Kotlin) when a problem needs it: custom modules, third-party SDK integration, platform-specific behavior

  • Own our release process: EAS builds, OTA updates, staged rollouts, crash triage

  • Contribute to the web product when priorities call for it, and push for shared patterns where they genuinely help

  • Work directly with design on interaction details that make the experience truly magical

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years shipping mobile apps to the App Store. Real releases, real users, real review rejections you've had to work through

  • Strong React Native and Expo experience. You know the SDK, EAS, config plugins, and the tradeoffs of managed vs. bare

  • Performance instincts. You've profiled a janky list, fixed a slow cold start, or moved work off the JS thread with Reanimated worklets - and you can explain why the fix worked

  • Product judgment. You have a list of mobile apps you reference often, along with what makes each one exceptional.

Hiring process

  1. 30 min intro call

  2. Technical conversation - walk us through an app you've shipped

  3. Paid take-home or IRL work trial

Benefits

  • Free Equinox membership & other health perks

  • Generous equity grant vested over 4 years

  • Health, dental, vision insurance
