About TruckSmarter

Trucking moves 71% of freight in America, nearly $900 billion annually, yet the industry remains deeply fragmented and underserved by technology. TruckSmarter is fixing that, starting with the people at the center of it: truck drivers.

We're a team of less than 25 building Dispatch, a vertically-integrated AI-powered product that performs many of the repetitive, time-intensive manual operations so that our users can focus on growing their business. The product is live, drivers are using it, and we're now focused on making Dispatch more powerful for the people who depend on it every day.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced mobile engineer to help us transform TruckSmarter’s new vision into a reality for all the freight industry. In this role, you’ll:

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance mobile applications for iOS and/or Android platforms using React Native (with support to learn React Native on the job).

  • Provide guidance on mobile app best practices, coding standards, and new technologies.

  • Review code and offer constructive feedback to peers to ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers to align on requirements and deliver solutions.

  • Design frontend deployment pipelines balancing velocity and reliability to help frontend engineers build excellent product experiences for our users.

  • Make crucial architectural decisions that will impact feature development for years to come.

What You'll Do
  • Owning large surface area within our product & see things go from 0 to 1.

  • Comfort in ambiguous situations. You'll be responsible for scaffolding out new web services and deciding on what tools and frameworks we will use moving forward.

  • Working across the entire product lifecycle from conceptualization through production.

  • A collaborative startup where you have full autonomy over your work and can make direct impact on users.

  • Solving problems with pragmatic yet sophisticated solutions—you know how to strive for simplicity without compromising the more complex use cases.

  • Comfortable working directly with designers across product and brand.

  • Work cross-functionally with the team to shape the product from strategy, definition to execution, validation, and future iterations.

What We're Looking For
  • 3 - 7 years of experience building frontend applications that are used by a significant number of users.

  • Proficiency with technologies such as React Native/Flutter, React, and Next.js.

  • Experience with mobile design patterns (MVC, MVP, MVVM, VIPER), modern architecture, and best practices.

  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the capability to drive cross-functional requirements with business, product, operations and engineering teams.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Working Model

We work in-person 5 days a week at our downtown San Francisco office. We believe the best products get built when people are in the same room. Fast feedback loops, real collaboration, and a team that genuinely enjoys working together. If that's how you do your best work, you'll fit right in.

We Offer
  • Full health, dental and vision coverage

  • Daily catered lunch provided in-office, plus dinner covered for anyone working past 6:00pm

  • Commuter benefits

  • Flexible PTO

  • 401k

  • Commuter benefits

We would love for you to join us on this journey and are excited to review your application!

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
