About This Role:

The National Accounts Business Development Manager supports development of national accounts by working directly with land development and public/private specification organizations to maximize Hunter’s market share, revenue, and profitability.  Will interact at all levels of the customer organization consistently analyzing sales trends and marketing opportunities in support of Hunter Industries’ Irrigation and Lighting goals.  Helps motivate Hunter field teams to align with agreed upon plans, tactics, and strategies to foster the relationship with national land development and specification entities.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

  • Acts as the main point of contact for Hunter Industries with existing and potential national land development and public/private specification leadership.
  • Cultivates strong functional relationships with all levels of land development and specification organizations to ensure that national Hunter programs and policies are implemented effectively and in compliance with national agreements.
  • Travels to various customer locations, meets with land development and specification regional staff to support sales efforts, provide staff training, and implement marketing programs.
  • Develops and executes strategies to increase sales into the national land development, and public/private specification markets.
  • Develops promotional opportunities and training programs and manages the execution thereof with the members of the Hunter regional sales team and key land development and specification organizations to grow irrigation and lighting sales with both existing and target accounts.
  • Collaborates with local sales teams, regional, and national peers to assure the highest level of coordination, segment penetration, and customer satisfaction.
  • Executes and communicates marketing initiatives (e.g., pricing, promotions, product changes).
  • Implements strategies to support new product introductions and product extensions to other areas of land development and specification.
  • Creates and communicates forecasts, monitors data, and reports sales results to Hunter Sales Management and relevant Hunter team members.
  • Analyzes and monitors growth by volume and product category and uses these metrics to measure success for both existing and acquisition targets.
  • Conducts account reporting and reviews monthly with the Hunter sales leadership.
  • Documents activity and account progress within the sales pipeline for land development, and public/private specification.

Education/Training Required and Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a combination of education and relevant work experience. MBA preferred.

Experience Required and Preferred:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in a similar industry role either within the customer account or supporting a professional B2B channel customer. Including a minimum of 7 years of experience in an Account Management or Sales Management role.

  • Knowledge of selling, pricing, marketing, and distribution models within the industry.  Effective selling and presentation skills, with the demonstrated ability to attain sales goals.  Ability to explain and sell the features and benefits of products.  Ability to conduct training and educational programs.                                           
  • Knowledge of consultative selling techniques, distribution channels, business management and marketing techniques. Requires strong commitment to customer service.   
  • Technical knowledge of company and competitor products. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain highly effective internal and external working relationships and achieve a high level of customer satisfaction. Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English. Ability to leverage relationships and negotiate contracts.                                   
  • Must be goal orientated with the ability to meet or exceed sales objectives. Requires the ability to lead, plan, and organize for meeting objectives across regions.         
  • Knowledge of finance and budgeting processes.  Ability to prepare budgets and manage expenses within budget.                                   
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English.  Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships and to provide a high level of customer service and support.                           
  • Ability to travel extensively, live in a strategic location within the territory, and work flexible hours.             
  • Basic computer skills with ability to use Windows programs and to perform word processing, spreadsheet, and database management on a personal computer.                                          
  • Valid driver's license and driving record sufficient to meet requirements of the Driver and Vehicle Safety Policy
  • Knowledge of regional business and cultural practices preferred.
  • CRM experience in reporting, job tracking, and contact management.  Salesforce preferred.

The national average for this opportunity ranges from $117,000 to $148,000.

The Company complies with all federal/local/state regulations in regard to pay. The above represents a national average salary range for this job requisition. Compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined by qualifications, prior experience, other job-related factors, and geographic location.
