We’re looking for a Network Engineer to join Snap Inc! As a member of the IT Network Engineering team, you’ll be supporting the networks, systems and tools that keep the business growing and our information safe.

What you’ll do:


  • Design, Develop, Deploy, and Operate Snap’s global enterprise network infrastructure    
  • Evolve, Monitor, Maintain, and Operate Snap’s existing enterprise network infrastructure
  • Design, Develop, Deploy, and Operate Snap’s Data Center network infrastructure
  • Evaluate new technologies, prioritize their acquisition, and make decisions in alignment with IT roadmaps/business requirements
  • Engineer and implement new solutions to meet business and performance requirements.
  • Automate solutions through scripting, continuous integration/deployment, and source control 
  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to support enterprise, security, and business related incidents and initiatives
  • Communicate timelines, network dependencies, resource constraints, and progress with key stakeholders timely and effectively
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to adjacent engineers
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Occasional travel

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to process information logically
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions
  • Leverage effective communication to escalate challenges to leadership and avoid service disruptions.

Minimum qualifications:


  • 6+ years of experience in core network technologies, including routing, switching, implementation and design.
  • 5+ years experience implementing and managing small to medium scale BGP deployments. 
  • BS/BA degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience

Preferred qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years experience implementing and managing medium to large scale OSPF deployments.
  • 5+ years of experience utilizing network tools and packet sniffers. e.g. wireshark, tcpdump.
  • 3-5 years LAN technologies (Spanning Tree, Port security, VLAN, LACP, and QOS)
  • 3-5 years Network Security technologies (Firewalls, NAT, PAT, IPSec, VPN, network access lists) 
  • 3-5 years experience managing network monitoring and configuration management tools, SNMP, netflow, and vendor services
  • 3-5 years Wireless Networking supporting site surveys, design, and deployment. 
  • Experience supporting Systems that are leveraged to administer Network infrastructure
  • Experience developing/supporting Python or shell scripting to automate Network infrastructure
  • Experience developing/supporting configuration management (Ansible) for On-Premise (Physical/Virtual) and Cloud (AWS/GCP) hosted deployments

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $142,000-$214,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $135,000-$203,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $121,000-$182,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
