Job Purpose and Impact
- The Network Engineering job implements, maintains and participates in designing network infrastructure to provide reliable and secure communication across the organization. With limited supervision, this job partners to configure and handle network devices such as routers, switches and firewalls, performs regular maintenance and upgrades, monitors network performance, troubleshoots moderately complex issues, and provides suggestion to optimize and automate systems for efficiency and scalability. This job also supports security measures to protect against threats and maintain compliance with industry standards.
Key Accountabilities
- NETWORK SOLUTIONS: Implements and partners to design network solutions to meet organizational needs, including creating network diagrams and blueprints.
- NETWORK DEVICES CONFIGURATION: Sets up and configures various moderately complex network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, virtual private networks and software defined networking to maintain optimal performance and security.
- TROUBLESHOOTING & DIAGNOSTICS: Performs moderately complex troubleshooting and diagnostics to resolve network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining network reliability.
- NETWORK MAINTENANCE: Conducts routine maintenance and updates on network systems, including applying patches, service packs and security configurations.
- PERFORMANCE MONITORING & OPTIMIZATION: Monitors network performance and applies various tools to maintain system availability and reliability, and suggests necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
- SECURITY MEASURES: Sustains network security by implementing appropriate measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and encryption technologies.
- DISASTER RECOVERY PLANNING: Implements and partners to develop disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in case of network failures.
- NETWORK AUTOMATION: Implements and partners to develop automation and tools to streamline network operations, including configuration management, device provisioning and software updates.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of 2 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 3 years or more of relevant experience.
- 2+ years experience in the field of Networking (Routing, Switching and SD WAN) having good understanding of Software Defined Networks. The person should have experience on Versa & Cisco products with ability to design, implement and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred:
- 4 years of experience in network engineering in a large scale, distributed IT team
- Around 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of wireless technologies
- Knowledge on WAN technologies and protocols, not limited to BGP, OSPF, QoS, CoS, ACLs, NAT/CGNAT, MPLS, VPNs & IPSec.
- Experience across various areas of network, including switching, routing, software and traditional WAN, firewall, load-balancing, networking protocols, DNS, DHCP, network observability.
- Experience in maintaining and managing networks running OSPF and BGP routing protocols with QoS implementations. CCIE SP or Enterprise certification is preferred.
- Ability to develop low-level design (LLD) for proposed network architecture.
- Knowledge of automation and scripting of network configurations with know-how of python, bash, docker is preferred. Working experience in source code management tools like GitHub.
- Experience working with agile teams, leveraging modern engineering tools and practices to manage team backlog, planned work, and issue tracking
