Develop nodal market forecasts and conduct transmission and congestion analysis for Western US power markets. Perform quantitative analyses, collaborate with modeling teams, engage clients, contribute to product development, and communicate findings to inform investment and commercial decisions.
Aurora’s mission is to provide data-driven intelligence to support the energy transition. To support this mission, we are looking for an Analyst to join our office in Oakland, California.
Aurora has developed a market-leading suite of services which provide analytics and insights to players across the North American power markets – helping to shine a light on development across the power market and industry. Our services comprise Power and Renewable Market Services for the major North American power markets. Together, these provide insights on the development of power markets and implications for a range of power assets, as well as policy and strategy across North America.
Aurora’s Nodal Analytics service provides long-term forecasts of around-the-clock (ATC), top-bottom-4 (TB4), and generation-weighted average (GWA) basis values for approximately 2,000 generator nodes across the CAISO and non-ISO Western market.
The service combines Aurora’s proprietary nodal power market modeling with detailed forecasts of generation interconnection activity, transmission network upgrades, and changing grid conditions to assess future locational value across the system.
Analysts on the team develop nodal market forecasts, conduct transmission and congestion analysis, and deliver research and data products that support investment, development, and commercial decision-making for market participants across the Western U.S.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge research and inform key decisions taken by our growing group of US clients. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic, intellectually stimulating, and demanding yet supportive environment. Working as part of a close-knit team, you will enjoy autonomy, the opportunity to substantially influence major decisions in the energy sector, and the chance to grow into an industry expert.
Based in Oakland, California, you will develop analysis and convey insights to enhance clients’ decision-making. You will play an active role in all aspects of research and client engagement: helping identify issues, form hypotheses, conduct analysis, and synthesize conclusions into recommendations.
The successful applicant will combine strong quantitative ability with a strong track record of performance in team-oriented environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop timely and rigorous quantitative analyses to enhance clients’ decision-making.
- Work closely with our modeling team, structuring economic problems into quantifiable analyses and deriving insights from the model results.
