Zed is a next-generation code editor that's engineered from scratch in Rust to be fast, elegant, and collaborative. As our community grows, so does our backlog of issues and feature requests. We're looking for talented developers to help us tackle these challenges by joining our team.
You'll be part of Zed's Open Source team who's responsible for triaging issues, communicating with our users, fixing critical bugs, working on features requested by the community, reviewing contributor pull requests, and more.


Key Responsibilities


- Work on fixing community issues and bugs

- Prioritize and implement features requested by the community

- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code

- Review and discuss pull requests, giving and receiving constructive feedback

- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with teammates and community members in real time

- Help improve our GitHub processes and tooling

- Optimize performance and user experience where necessary


Requirements


- Strong programming skills and problem-solving ability

- Proficiency in Rust and willingness to learn quickly

- Sufficient English proficiency for effective pair programming and communication with users

- Enthusiasm for open source and collaborative development

- User empathy and a strong desire to make Zed better for our users

Location: Remote (American or European time zones)
