A Bit About Us:
We are Arcadia Science, an evolutionary biology company founded and led by scientists. Our mission is to turn natural innovations into real-world solutions by developing systematic, and quantitative approaches to leveraging biology for therapeutics R&D. We share our research as openly as possible to accelerate discovery and engage with the broader scientific community.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an extraordinary and experienced Operations Associate to join our team as we rapidly grow as an ambitious scientific organization. Our ideal candidate is a masterful generalist (or skilled in one of the areas below and willing to flex), with a demonstrable bias toward taking action and successfully getting things done.
We are looking for a highly motivated systems thinker who is willing to take on whatever responsibilities are most critical for the organization at the moment. This may span the breadth of Administrative, Communications, Finance, and People (Hiring, Onboarding, Performance) functions. You will be a part of a small operations team supporting a big mission.
You must be adept at managing many complex and fast-paced projects. The ideal candidate should be a driven, high-integrity individual who can handle information with discretion and maturity, ideally with experience in scaling teams in tech or biotech. They have strong self-awareness and EQ, and a clear sense of boundaries.
They are known for moving quickly, erring on the side of impatience. They are known for being obsessed with efficiency, organization, and details. They should communicate precisely and succinctly. Strong prioritization skills are a must.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle a variety of administrative and logistics responsibilities, such as preparation of finance or HR related documents, forms and internal communications.
- Assist with logistics for new strategic initiatives requiring executive support.
- Initial screening for external inquiries related to billing, compliance or employment related matters.
- Draft clear, professional emails with meticulous attention to detail.
- Expense categorization and other accounts payable related tasks.
- Project management of higher-touch operations, such as recruitment, seminars, or other outreach.
- Improvement of operational processes via automation or data-driven technologies.
- Anticipate and/or design pilots for new initiatives across the company.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of administrative or operational experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable with Google suite, Slack, and project management platforms.
- Fluent in organizing and maintaining spreadsheets.
- Basic familiarity with HR and financial best practices.
- Strong writer.
- Solid background and reference checks.
Compensation:
Successful applicants can expect to be compensated between $100,000 and $140,000 with benefits and a highly competitive equity offering, depending on experience level. The position will require the individual to be on-site at our Emeryville, California headquarters.
Application Process:
Interested applicants should send a resume and a one-page cover letter that answers the following:
How does your prior experience prepare you for this role?
Arcadia Science is an equal opportunity workplace; we welcome people from all backgrounds and communities. We provide competitive compensation and practical benefits to keep you happy and healthy so that you can do your best work.
Please note that an offer of employment from Arcadia is contingent upon the successful clearance of a reference and background check.
