The Operations Generalist will manage key operational functions including hiring, onboarding, finance workflows, and internal systems to enhance operations as the team scales.
Salary range: $110,000 - 160,000/year + benefits
Description: Transluce is a fast-moving research lab building the public tech stack for understanding and debugging AI systems. We build world-class, AI-backed analysis tools and use these to set industry standards for evaluation. We are a non-profit with a mission to steer the development of AI for the public good.
About the role: We are looking for an Operations Generalist to run core operational functions as we scale from 20 to 40+ employees. You will report to the Chief of Staff and run processes across people operations, finance, compliance, and internal systems with a high degree of autonomy. You may occasionally assist with larger projects in events and office management. This role is critical to Transluce’s success, requiring proactive problem solving to preempt problems and improve our systems.
Core responsibilities:
- Run core people operations processes end-to-end: hiring coordination, onboarding and offboarding, and benefits administration
- Run key financial and compliance workflows including expense management, vendor relationships, invoicing, and SOC 2 compliance
- Manage existing internal tools (Google Workspace, Slack) and extend our current toolkit to solve operational pain points
- Proactively identify operational risks and opportunities to continually improve our operations. As we scale, we will outgrow aspects of our current setup.
Qualities of a strong candidate:
- At least 2 years of experience in operations, either as a generalist or specializing in people operations or finance, ideally in startups, tech or finance/consulting.
- Reliable, self-directed, highly conscientious, and proactive operator who can manage the details of multiple workstreams and prioritize well
- Enjoys both building scalable systems where needed and quickly solving new problems with scrappy, minimal solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Can exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Genuine interest in AI safety and Transluce's mission
We are located in San Francisco and enthusiastic to work together in-person. We are open to sponsoring international visas.
