💛 What You’ll Do

BrightBee is an educational technology startup revolutionizing how K-12 schools recruit and engage with support staff. Our mission is to create a future where schools thrive and workers have the support they need to prosper and grow.  We believe in unlocking the potential of every school team member, no matter where they started their career journey.

The Opportunity: BrightBee has an amazing pool of temporary workers who are dedicated to helping K-12 students and schools, which we call "Bees." Our newest Operations Manager will be a critical early hire on our lean startup team. You will run the day-to-day operations of providing customer support to school leaders and Bees, ensuring we fill as many assignments as possible while maintaining high levels of satisfaction and engagement.

📅  Schedule
  • Monday- Friday (8:30am - 5:00pm Pacific Time)
  • Location requirement: While this role is fully remote, candidates must be located in one of the following states: California, Nevada, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, or New Jersey. (Occasional partner site visits may be required depending on your proximity).
🎯 What You’ll Be Doing

Because we are a fast-growing startup, this isn't a passive administration role. You will own multi-channel communications, rapidly pivot between tasks, and actively participate in building our platform.

  • Drive Remote Logistics: Support daily scheduling, assignments, and logistics concurrently across multiple time zones (specifically operating on 8:30am - 5:00pm Pacific Time).
  • Champion our Partners & Bees: Communicate empathically with school administrators and Bees to troubleshoot real-time problems, ensuring high-volume, multi-channel support (phone, email, chat/text) via Zendesk.
  • Grow the Business: Conduct outbound cold calls to prospective or lapsed school partners/clients to drive engagement and expand our impact.
  • Collaborate with Product: Act as the voice of our users. Work closely with BrightBee’s product and engineering teams to provide feedback that supports the continuous improvement of our software.
  • Own Difficult Situations: Handle sensitive, complex scenarios with maturity, including processing and reconciling claims rapidly and communicating challenging decisions (such as site access revocation due to performance feedback).
  • Wear Multiple Hats: Provide internal administrative and clerical support for the BrightBee team and take on "other duties as assigned"—the ultimate startup staple!
Basic Requirements
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
    • A true passion for education: You are an educator at heart or a lifelong learner motivated by making a difference. You possess a genuine enthusiasm for supporting student learning, empowering school teams, and promoting academic success.
    • Remote work experience: You are a disciplined self-starter. You have a track record of remaining highly productive, organized, communicative, and reliable within a fully remote work environment without needing micromanagement.
    • Start- Up Experience: You thrive in ambiguity and fast-paced environments. You can manage high-volume, complex tasks, and pivot from one priority to another without missing a beat. You understand that in an early-stage company, no job is too small.
    • At least 1 year of experience working in an administrative or office job or customer service is required, managing fast-paced and/or complex tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with teachers, students, and school staff.
💰 Compensation/Benefits
  • Competitive cash compensation ranging from $57,000 to $62,000 per year
  • Comprehensive health, vision, dental, and other insurance benefits
  • Generous vacation policy
  • Remote work
