Group 1001 is a consumer-centric, technology-driven family of insurance companies on a mission to deliver outstanding value and operational performance by combining financial strength and stability with deep insurance expertise and a can-do culture. Group1001’s culture emphasizes the importance of collaboration, communication, core business focus, risk management, and striving for outcomes. This goal extends to how we hire and onboard our most valuable assets – our employees.

Why This Role Matters:

This position sits with the Group 1001's Next-Gen Operations Technology team. The person in this role makes operations work better by understanding how it runs, then re-engineering it to improve efficiency. You map the current-state process, find where time, rework, and hand-offs are lost, and redesign the process so it runs cleaner and simpler. You will use operational data to prove where the problem is and to measure whether the change works.  In addition, you design the fixes alongside the technology teams that build them. This is a process-and-solutions seat grounded in Lean / Six Sigma and continuous-improvement discipline, not a heads-down coding seat. Success is partnering to make this land with IT, Distribution, Compliance, Product, and Audit across annuity operations, and with operational leadership, front-line leaders, the quality team, and the process-improvement team to keep procedures effective, streamlined, and as simple as possible.

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Map and diagnose operational processes: value-stream and process mapping of how the work runs today; find the waste, the rework loops, and the failure points.
  • Re-engineer and improve run structured improvement (DMAIC or equivalent) to redesign processes so they are faster, cleaner, more reliable, and more efficient.
  • Use data as the diagnostic: pull and analyze operational data to locate the problem, size it, and measure whether the change worked. Partner with the ops data product owner for the trusted measures; you interpret them and act.
  • Own the process-improvement portfolio like a product owner: pick the processes most worth fixing, sequence the work, hold the priorities, and represent operations to the delivery teams.
  • Design the solution in partnership with the technology teams: When a process requires a system enhancement, platform integration, or automation, produce the to-be process and solution design plus clear requirements, then work in tandem with the delivery teams (internal, engineering, DSS, vendors) so the design and execution meet production needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 8+ years in process engineering, continuous improvement, or a data-heavy process-analyst role, with a track record of processes measurably improved (cycle time, rework, quality, or cost).
  • Prior experience in Insurance, financial services, or other regulated-industry background is highly desired
  • Lean / Six Sigma discipline: Green Belt minimum, Black Belt a plus; comfortable running DMAIC and standard process-mapping methods.
  • Strong data analysis experience: you can pull, interrogate, and interpret operational data to diagnose a process and prove an improvement, without needing to own the data platform.
  • Solution-design instinct: you can design a to-be process and the shape of the system or automation that supports it, write clear requirements, and partner with a delivery team to get it built.
  • Product-owner instincts: you prioritize and sequence the work, hold a backlog, and represent the operation to the teams that build.
  • Real understanding of operations processes and projects; you can sit with a team, learn how the work runs, and see where it breaks.
  • Clear communicator who can work across operations, engineering, vendors, and leadership.
  • Intellectual curiosity: you ask why a process looks the way it does, dig into the discrepancies, and keep learning.
  • Contact-center / customer-operations process experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with where automation and AI reduce work from the process is preferred
  • Prior experience in BI tooling, Visio or Lucid chart for mapping; SQL or a BI tool for the data side is preferred but not required
  • Be curious enough to understand the work before you plan it
  • Show empathy for the teams whose work you're changing
  • Confident giving feedback and humble receiving feedback
  • Demonstrate flexibility when priorities shift
  • Be resilient, calm, and have a good, humored attitude when things don’t go as planned
