General Manager, Lending
About the Role
As GM of Lending, you will lead Chime’s efforts to expand from beloved bank account to trusted partner for our members’ full financial lives. Our team has already launched SpotMe, Chime’s fee-free overdraft product, and that’s just the beginning. You will lead the next round of developing our lending strategy from the ground up. You will work closely with our Product team to set an ambitious vision, achieve its monumental promise, and maintain its durability as a major driver for sustainable growth. You will have P&L responsibility for the product, and be responsible for working with key business partners in Product, Risk, Finance, and Marketing to strategically evaluate the trade-offs between competing goals and interests in the organization, to deliver the best solution for our members, and for Chime. This role will report directly to Chime’s VP, Lending Products and Banking Strategy, a member of the Chime Executive Team.Â
This job is based in San Francisco once Chime’s offices re-open, and can not be performed in the State of Colorado.
In this role, you can expect toÂ
- Partner with Chime’s Product team to define our long-term strategic direction for lending, ensuring Chime builds a differentiated product suite that helps drive growthÂ
- Lead the go-to-market strategy for lending by developing and delivering compelling, data-driven narratives
- Collaborate with key internal partners in Product, Risk, Finance, Marketing, Member Services, and Analytics to build and operationalize the best new products for our members
- Develop, prioritize, and execute on lending’s OKRs and shape how our products can help Chime meet its goals
- Own the P&L, partnering with Product, Finance, Risk, and Analytics to report financial performance and trends to the business and Chime board
To thrive in this role, youÂ
- Can co-create a strategic vision for the business incorporating Chime’s overall goals, financial performance, and consumer insights to further Chime’s leadership in this fast-moving product area
- Have prior P&L ownership experience in a FinTech or Financial Services business
- Are comfortable weighing competing interests, driving hard towards a data driven outcome, all while maintaining a collaborative environment across the team
- Are adept in bringing clear and logical structure to ambiguous questions, you can synthesize on the fly and help the team see around corners in the org
- Have a proven track record of driving alignment across multiple levels of the organization, from Risk analysts to senior executives with diverse perspectivesÂ
- Understand the lending and banking market and competitive landscape, and are able to build Chime’s lending value-prop in this highly regulated environment
- Are driven by results and enjoy doing whatever it takes to execute on complex, high-visibility projects under tight deadlines
- Have 15+ years of work experience, including:
- Delivering corporate strategy projects at the Project Leader/Case Team Leader/Engagement Manager level or above at Top Tier management consulting firmÂ
- Working within a high growth Fintech startup
- Experience in lending and/or unsecured credit
