Vice President of Trust & Safety
About the role
As Chime’s VP of Trust & Safety, you will report directly to the SVP of Risk and join Chime’s executive leadership team. Trust and Safety is critical to the financial health of our members and to Chime’s long-term success. In this role, you will own accountability for the successful execution of this function, building and leading teams using data-driven insights to create strategy, policy, and to inform cross-functional product and engineering roadmaps. You will start by building three teams and hiring strong subject matter experts to ensure excellence in Chime’s Trust & Safety program. This role also serves as a critical voice in setting the strategic direction of Chime’s Risk Programs broadly.
The scope of Chime’s Trust & Safety program is broad: the team’s mandate is to own the end-to-end detection, mitigation, and prevention of first-party fraud, threats of harm or harassment, and abuses of third-party financial services platforms, including benefits providers. Success in the role will be gauged not only by the impact to Chime’s bottom line, but by the impact to our members’ peace of mind, the interoperability of their Chime account across the financial services ecosystem, and Chime’s reputation as a safe and trusted provider of financial services products.
You’ll build a team that ensures we challenge ourselves to achieve excellence in risk management while executing through the lens of member-obsession. Risk teams partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, Member Services, and other teams to optimize the holistic member journey, ensuring industry excellence in precision and remediation as well as prevention of financial losses. We believe incumbents fail to serve the average American with imprecise and ineffective risk policies and this executive will ensure Chime is truly best-in-class.
If you’re an experienced, senior risk, trust, and safety leader with a track record of hands-on execution of critical risk programs, we’d love to meet you.
This role cannot be performed in the state of Colorado.
In this role, you can expect to
- Work with the SVP Risk, SVP Product, COO, and cross-functional Risk leaders to establish Trust & Safety goals and strategic roadmaps across product and service lines
- Establish Chime’s Trust & Safety vision and strategy, and build teams with senior, seasoned leaders in Strategy/Policy, Insights/Analytics, and Investigations to ensure long-term success at scale

- Provide leadership and coaching to your team, bringing on top talent to fill key gaps as needed
- Be an active member of the Risk Leadership team, working with the SVP of Risk and your peers to continually up-level our Risk organization by driving improvements to our strategy, process/tools, people, and member experience

- Degree in accounting, finance, engineering, law, or related field; additional licensing, certification, or graduate degree preferred
- Strong communication and project management skills, including budgeting, planning, timeline management, implementation, and all elements of execution
- Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written, especially with remote teams and executive leadership
- You are nimble, creative, and dynamic. Adapting to change comes naturally for you
- Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with teammates from all levels and areas of the organization, across multiple geographies
