Overview

Join us as a Network Engineer focusing on the dynamic field of optical networking. You will leverage your expertise with optical switches from vendors like Calient, Telescent, and Ciena to optimize network infrastructure. Your role is crucial in ensuring seamless data transmission by troubleshooting and enhancing both physical layer components and optical signal integrity. This opportunity allows you to apply your deep understanding of multi-vendor cabling and optics, utilizing your skills in fiber inspection, optical testing, and transceiver diagnostics.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain optical networking infrastructure using switches from Calient, Telescent, and Ciena, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of physical layer components, addressing issues related to signal loss and high bit error rates (BER).
  • Perform fiber cleaning, inspection, and adherence to cabling standards such as TIA/EIA and ISO/IEC to maintain network health.
  • Utilize optical test equipment like OTDR and power meters for precise diagnostics and efficient resolution of network issues.
  • Analyze transceiver compatibility and conduct diagnostic reporting via CLI to optimize network configurations and performance.
  • Develop strategies for signal integrity troubleshooting, including detailed analysis of DOM/DDM data for proactive identification and resolution of issues.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Extensive hands-on experience with optical switches from Calient, Telescent, and Ciena.
  • Proficiency in multi-vendor cabling and optics, including deeply rooted knowledge of physical layer components.
  • Strong skills in optical signal integrity troubleshooting, with experience analyzing signal loss and resolving high BER.
  • Expertise with optical test equipment, specifically OTDR, power meters, and CLI-based diagnostics for transceiver data.
  • Experience with optical transceiver diagnostics (DOM/DDM data)
  • Strong understanding of cabling standards such as TIA/EIA and ISO/IEC.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced skills in diagnosing and correcting signal integrity issues, with experience in active signal analysis and optimization methodologies.
  • Familiarity with the latest advancements in optical networking technologies and transceiver innovations.
  • Knowledge of emerging optical networking trends to drive future-focused infrastructure decisions.
CA Base Pay
$120,000$190,000 USD
