JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Manages legal files and records for discovery, investigation and processing including the monitoring and management of compliance filings, discovery, motion, hearing, expert designation and other actions in accordance with critical deadlines. Follows up on investigation or information requests. Gathers, prepares and organizes reports, exhibits, documents, trial data and other materials in response to management requests, subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, motions for summary judgment etc.; arranges for extensions of time as needed. Prepares records for expert review.
2. Performs timely handling of highly sensitive issues and materials related to all areas of operation within the organization. Monitors files and escalates issues requiring attorney involvement
3. Analyzes contracts, reports, financial data, depositions, discovery, investigative and other documents, preparing summaries of same as requested.
4. Collaborates with attorneys (internal and external) and business partners to gather information from clients and others Reviews client/business files providing oversight and suggestions to attorneys and others on appropriate action steps. May interview clients, witnesses and others as required. May locate, contact and act as liaison for expert witnesses in a variety of fields.
5. Under attorney direction may draft reports, opinions, position papers, filings, pleadings, motions, interrogatories and other documents as necessary and assures organization of supporting files. May draft legal documents in compliance with court requests and applicable federal, state, local or administrative regulations. Drafts and prepares correspondence and other written documents as required.
6. May be required to assist with managing service of process, assisting matter management and legal billing issues, and other critical workflows.
7. May handle tracking and disposition of subpoenas or other requests for information.
8. Performs legal research and keeps current with procedures used by local, state and federal courts or administrative agencies. Reviews and keeps current on evolving case law and new legislation affecting compliance and litigation within area of expertise
9. Collaboratively works with internal and external legal staff on various projects. Responds to information requests. May provide advice to client groups on a variety of issues such as employment and immigration of non-US citizens, investigation of internal discrimination charges, etc.
10. Maintains internal records in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Familiarity with litigation processes, the process of government examinations/investigations, as well as responding to document requests and subpoenas. Knowledge and application of legal research tools, legal theories and insurance practices.
2. Prior experience working with variety of case management and e-discovery tools.
3. Solid analytical and drafting skills.
3. Project management skills and experience and excellent internal/external customer interactive skills.
4. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, legal research tools and business related software systems such as TeamConnect, Filevine, Relativity, Exterro, Adobe, or others.
4. Excellent organizational skills including ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
5. Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information in a clear, concise and effective manner.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree, and/or completion of an accredited paralegal program, or equivalent.
2. Typically a minimum of three years of prior experience in area of responsibility (corporate, employment, securities, regulatory, defense litigation, coverage litigation) as a paralegal, legal assistant, and/or legal case assistant.
3. Insurance background preferred.
