ABOUT PRECISION NEUROSCIENCE

Precision Neuroscience is building a next-generation brain–computer interface (BCI) to heal and empower millions of people living with neurological conditions.

Our first product, Layer 7, is designed to help people with severe paralysis operate digital devices using only their thoughts—opening up new possibilities for daily life.

Our team brings together experts in neurosurgery, AI and machine learning, microfabrication, electrical engineering, clinical science, and more. We combine deep technical rigor with a people-first mindset to turn breakthrough research into real-world medical solutions.

As a Precision employee, you’ll join one of the fastest-moving and best-capitalized companies in the emerging field of brain–computer interfaces. Since our founding in 2021, we have raised more than $180 million, advanced our technology through validation, and initiated human trials with leading hospitals across the country.

Our Values:
We build for human impact, measuring progress by the lives our work can change.
We do no harm, holding ourselves to the highest standards of safety, integrity, and responsibility.

We innovate with urgency, because the stakes are high and our users can’t wait.

We bring sharp minds, open ears, pairing expertise with curiosity, humility, and respect.

And we lead the way, taking ownership of our work and helping to shape the future of our field.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer PCB Layout to translate PCB schematics into manufacturable PCB layouts and coordinate manufacturing and assembly with vendors.

In this role you will work on state-of-the-art implantable electronics in a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with electronics, micro-fabrication, and mechanical engineers.

This position will be based in our Santa Clara office. We are unable to consider remote workers or individuals who are not currently based in the US and legally authorized to work in the US.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate electrical schematics and system requirements into manufacturable PCB layouts:

    • Perform component placement for signal integrity, thermal performance, manufacturability, and mechanical and assembly constraints

    • Route high-density analog, RF, high-speed, digital, and power signals according to design rules and best practices

    • Generate fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing deliverables including Gerbers, ODB++, IPC-2581, drill files, pick-and-place data, and assembly drawings

  • Coordinate with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors on stackup, material selection, tolerances, and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews

  • Maintain PCB libraries including footprints, symbols, and 3D mechanical models.

  • Document layout guidelines, design decisions, and revision history

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong understanding of PCB layout fundamentals and multilayer board design:

    • Ability to interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, and manufacturing documentation.

    • Solid understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes, tolerances, and limitations.

    • Experience with PCB stackup design, transmission lines, controlled impedance, and material properties.

    • Knowledge of IPC standards.

    • Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and regulatory considerations.

  • Experience with Altium Designer in ECAD/MCAD projects both with stand-alone and shared/ collaborative scope.

  • Experience generating manufacturing outputs and working with fabrication vendors.

  • Ability to manage multiple board revisions and configuration control processes.

  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Diverse workforces create the best culture, company, and products. We at Precision are committed to an inclusive culture that celebrates the uniqueness and contributions of everyone.
