We are growing our People Business Partner team! As a People Business Partner Director, you will be the senior strategic advisor to the Chief Revenue Officer, VP-level leaders, and managers across Go-to-Market (GTM) functions. This senior individual contributor role is designed for an experienced operator who will shape the people strategy, translating business objectives into talent and organizational outcomes that drive growth, scale, and leadership effectiveness. Success in this role requires combining executive coaching, organizational design expertise, and strong business acumen.

This position is ideal for someone comfortable operating at a strategic level with executive leadership while equally enjoying hands-on execution and building scalable systems in a rapidly scaling environment.

What you’ll do

  • Coach senior leaders on leadership effectiveness, performance expectations, and organizational dynamics.
  • Partner with managers at all levels to build capability and execute performance management, employee engagement, and team communications.
  • Drive workforce planning tied to business growth, productivity, and capability needs.
  • Partner closely with other People Business Partners also supporting GTM functions, Finance, Talent Acquisition, and People Operations to align hiring and infrastructure with business outcomes.
  • Use data and business insight to influence executive decisions and identify organizational risks.
  • Lead organizational design and transformation efforts that enable scale and execution velocity.
  • Identify operational gaps and help design scalable solutions as the organization matures.

The reality of this role

We are still growing and evolving our internal infrastructure. Your success will be defined by your ability to balance long-term strategy with hands-on execution, executing and improving manual processes, and establish scalable foundations as the People function scales alongside the business.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10–12+ years progressive HRBP/People Partner experience.
  • Significant experience supporting all levels of leadership in GTM.
  • Proven ability to advise and influence C-level leaders.
  • Expertise in org design, executive coaching, and change leadership.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to connect people strategy to business outcomes.

Compensation

We offer competitive compensation packages commensurate with experience, including salary, equity, and where applicable, performance-based pay. Our Talent Acquisition Team can answer questions around dbt Lab’s total rewards during your interview process. In select locations (including Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Seattle), an alternate range may apply, as specified below.

  • The typical starting salary range for this role is:
    • $232,000 - $245,000
  • The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed is:
    • $257,000 - $270,000
