Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

Waymo’s People team recruits and supports the world’s best talent. Our business partners, program leaders, staffers, and compensation specialists help our employees attain their full potential in a healthy, considerate and supportive environment. We take our role as stewards of Waymo's culture seriously.

People Strategy keeps Waymo's People Team one step ahead of the business by being the central go-to-market partner. We run People priorities as one portfolio, sequencing launches and building scalable infrastructure to support Waymo's scaled expansion. We're operators who own outcomes end-to-end: no task too small, no idea too big.

In this hybrid role you will be based out of Mountain View, CA or San Francisco, CA and report to our Head of People Strategy.

You will:

  • Drive the People team's most important work across priorities, products, growth and emerging needs. You'll start with a focus area, then flex to wherever the business needs you most, from building new programs to strengthening ones already running. Your first focus is Waymo’ the People Team’s go-to-market and planning operations.
  • Own "launch and land" for the People team, stitching cross-functional efforts into one go-to-market approach so programs are deployed effectively
  • Treat People programs like product launches, designing change management strategies that drive adoption and value for Leaders, Managers and Waymonauts
  • Shape the People team's AI vision and usage framework, from prioritizing use cases and running pilots to measuring adoption and impact
  • Run the People team's OKRs and rhythm of business, and assess new and existing People products to recommend what to scale, improve or sunset
  • Build trusted relationships with cross-functional partners, navigating sensitive topics with sound judgment and discretion

You have:

  • 8+ years of experience in HR or People program management, business operations, go-to-market, change management, or product management
  • Experience leading large-scale change or transformation initiatives, from launch through adoption
  • Experience turning quantitative and qualitative analysis into decisions and narratives that build consensus with senior leaders
  • Track record of operating independently once the goal is clear: taking initiative, making decisions, and knowing when to escalate

We prefer:

  • Experience moving work forward across many teams at any stage (shaping it, running it, or landing it), knowing when to own it and when to hand it off, and building trust along the way
  • Hands-on experience applying AI tools to improve workflows, and a passion for technology and business transformation
  • Familiarity with change management frameworks and product practices such as user research, pilots and adoption metrics
  • Ability to work at every altitude, from launch details to shaping strategy

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to ~25% of the time.
