Personal Lines Insurance Account Manager

We are a mid-sized independent insurance agency committed to delivering personalized coverage solutions and exceptional service to our clients. We represent a wide range of top-rated carriers, giving us the flexibility to find the right fit for every customer. We are seeking a motivated, client-focused Personal Lines Account Manager to join our team and help drive continued growth.

About Our Agency

As an independent agency, we are not captive to any single carrier — we advocate for our clients by shopping the market to find them the best combination of coverage, price, and service. Our team is our greatest asset, and we foster a collaborative, supportive culture where your success is our success. We are growing, and we want the right people to grow with us.

Role Overview

The Personal Lines Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing a book of personal lines business — including auto, home, umbrella, and related products. You will serve as the primary point of contact for your clients, handle renewals and endorsements, identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities, and actively develop new business to meet monthly revenue targets.

Sales Goals & Compensation

This role carries a clear, achievable new business production goal designed to reward initiative and consistent effort.

Monthly Revenue Target: $3,000

New business premium revenue per month

Your Monthly Earning Potential: $600+

You earn 20% of all new business you write

New business compensation is paid as a commission on top of your base salary, creating a direct link between your production and your earnings. There is no cap — the more you write, the more you earn.

To support your success, the agency provides:

  • Inbound leads generated through agency marketing channels

  • Access to a broad market of top-rated personal lines carriers

  • Quoting tools, agency management system support, and marketing materials

  • Mentorship and training to help you build and refine your sales process

Key Responsibilities

Book of Business Management

  • Serve as the primary service contact for personal lines clients

  • Conduct proactive renewal reviews — especially with top-tier clients — to ensure adequate coverage and identify gaps

  • Process endorsements, coverage changes, cancellations, and reinstatements accurately and promptly

  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely, professional manner and resolve issues with carriers

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date client records in the agency management system

New Business Development

  • Convert inbound leads from agency marketing channels into bound policies

  • Proactively reach out to the existing commercial lines client base to introduce and quote personal lines products

  • Implement a structured referral process to cultivate new prospects from your satisfied client base

  • Partner with producers and other team members to identify cross-sell opportunities across the agency

Client Retention & Relationship Management

  • Build long-term relationships that drive loyalty, referrals, and multi-policy households

  • Proactively communicate with clients ahead of renewals to review their needs and prevent unexpected lapses

  • Educate clients on coverage options, policy changes, and the value of working with an independent agency

Qualifications

  • Active Property & Casualty license required

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in personal lines insurance, preferably at an independent agency

  • Familiarity with agency management systems (e.g., Applied Epic, HawkSoft, AMS360, or similar)

  • Experience with comparative raters and national quoting platforms

  • Strong knowledge of personal auto, homeowners, umbrella, and related products

  • Insurance designations (CISR, CPCU, CIC) are a plus

Required Skills & Attributes

Professional Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage a high volume of client interactions

  • Proficiency with technology and agency software

  • Sound understanding of underwriting and coverage guidelines

Personal Attributes:

  • Self-motivated with a proactive, sales-oriented mindset

  • Client-first attitude with genuine care for outcomes

  • Problem-solver who stays calm under pressure

  • Team player who contributes to a positive agency culture

  • Adaptable and eager to grow with the agency

Performance Metrics

Success in this role is measured by the following key indicators:

  • Monthly new business revenue written (target: $3,000/month)

  • Policy retention rate on managed book of business

  • Quote-to-bind conversion rate

  • Average premium per household

  • Client satisfaction/reviews

  • Cross-sell ratio (policies per household)

  • Renewal retention rate

Work Environment & Benefits

  • Full-time position — Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Remote, hybrid, or in-office options available depending on candidate and role fit

  • Collaborative team culture that celebrates individual and shared wins

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • IRA retirement plan

  • Paid vacation and flexible time off

  • Ongoing professional development support, including designation study assistance

  • Clear path for career advancement as the agency grows
