Pay Range

$63.45 - $95.20

Major Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates expertise in relevant area of practice. Provides clinical support to colleagues, solving complex problems and using specialty knowledge to assist in patient care. Collaborates with pharmacy leadership to manage the formulary and medication-use process.   
  • Participates collegially with members of the department of pharmacy and other internal customers to ensure pharmacy representation in the development of medication use management programs including clinical guideline development, critical pathways, disease management, and drug use programs. Serves as the clinical pharmacy liaison to the site or system service line, applying expertise in drug therapy to prevent and resolve drug-related problems. 
  • Leads medication safety advancements and performance improvement initiatives for pharmacy services in specialty service lines. Participates in specialty work groups, councils, committees, and ad hoc teams.   
  • Designs, plans and, educates and leads safety and performance improvement initiatives to achieve the organization’s clinical quality, cost, and service quality goals. Facilitates the implementation of new processes/initiatives in the department. Reinforces processes through communication and follow-up. 
  • Effectively supports department and hospital efforts to operate in compliance with applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies, such as the Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Consults with external agencies and organizations related to a specific project and/or area of expertise to standardize and ensure compliance with local, state, federal and other regulatory requirements.
  • Contributes to the planning, architecture, scope, timelines, and resource utilization of projects, and is able to delegate tasks effectively across project team members in order to execute projects effectively and efficiently based on agreed upon timelines and budgets. Assists in the overall direction of pharmacy informatics resources and prioritization of informatics projects. 
  • Represents pharmacy informatics initiatives and assigned projects at both Inter and intra-professional leadership committees, able to present an expert-level understanding of functionality and provides multiple perspectives to objectively design and implement functionality successfully and safely. 
  • Leads the design and implementation of clinical rules supporting patient care. Provides accurate communication related to projects, implementations, or initiatives. 
  • Assists in data analytics as required creating necessary performance metrics, applying and drawing conclusions between deliverables, initiating measures to improve performance and to facilitate holistic data review. 
  • Mentors, trains, and assists in the performance evaluation of pharmacy teammates as assigned.  Supports team leader in executing initiatives to meet the needs/goals of the division.   

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Licensed in the state(s) of practice or eligible for reciprocity required.  
  • EPIC certification(s) as required by department.  

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy 

Experience Required:

  • Requires 5 years of experience in pharmacy information systems and clinical pharmacy workflows with demonstrated advanced competency. Alternatively, 3 years of pharmacy information systems experience in addition to completion of Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency and Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) residency in pharmacy informatics.Direct experience with training, education or preceptor roles required.

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities shall include, but not limited to the following:  
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams with competency in the execution of multiple projects, managing resources across multiple projects to meet goals, and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems. 
  • Provides effective delegation and follow-up of tasks over assigned project members. 
  • Successful in effective decision-making, problem solving, creativity, and leadership initiative. 
  • Maintains expert-level knowledge of information applications, and system integration. 
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical systems and the capabilities of available technologies in the marketplace. 
  • Role model of cultural and organizational change management processes, including workflow analysis, process redesign, and benefits analysis/measurement. 
  • Provides a focus on the relationships and strategic partnerships with individuals and teams at governance and practice advancement committee levels. 
  • Excellent communication skills to interpret, present, and lead projects in coordination with various clinical and administrative leaders. 
  • Proficient computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access desirable. 
  • Demonstrated decision making, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution skills. Life support training courses may be required dependent upon department discretion 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time and may occasionally need to stand. 
  • Will occasionally lift up to 35 lbs. without assistance. 
  • Must have functional speech, vision, and hearing. 
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job. 

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.   
  • PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics Residency preferred 
  • Board certification in area of practice or certification strongly recommended.
