The summary above was generated by AI

Layer Health was founded in 2023 by leading machine learning researchers from MIT and Harvard Medical School. We are building an AI layer that can accurately and scalably synthesize information from medical records, with the mission to reduce friction everywhere in healthcare. Our LLM-powered platform is solving chart review once and for all, across use cases. For health systems, our first product dramatically accelerates clinical registry abstraction in areas ranging from surgery and cardiology, to oncology. Our long term vision is for our AI layer to safely transform patient care and minimize unnecessary heartbreak. Layer Health’s diverse founding team brings expertise across machine learning, UI/UX, large language models, and medicine.

Here’s a collection of articles about our product, mission, recent funding round, etc.

We’re seeking an exceptional candidate to join our company as a part of the growing Clinical Informatics team. Together, we will create the AI layer that will redefine healthcare for the better.

What you'll do:

  • In collaboration with the Customer Success and Product teams, perform detailed workflow analysis at client hospitals to understand clinical workflows and help design AI-based interventions.
  • Contribute to and help maintain an advanced interoperability layer, transforming FHIR, HL7, CCDA, and other common data standards to a common data layer.
  • Contribute to the design and development of an advanced data layer that supports both machine learning R&D as well as real-time inference for embedded clinical applications.
  • Use your strong clinical and informatics knowledge to participate in data modeling, harmonization, normalization, and transformation efforts.
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams including engineering/research, customer success, and business to execute on the informatics vision and help invent the next iteration of human-AI collaboration in healthcare.
  • Create excellent documentation to allow other team members to self-serve on internal and external informatics topics, previously defined workflows, and data sources.

What you'll need:

  • You are an exceptional Clinical Informatician with significant experience in analyzing and redesigning healthcare IT workflows and a history of successfully launching new products/features in a hospital setting (EPIC, Cerner, etc.).
  • You are eager to tackle new challenges and quickly acquire new skills and abilities. You thrive in an environment primed for innovation at every level: theoretical machine learning, user interface design, human-AI collaboration, etc.
  • You excel at algorithmic thinking and have fluency with at least one programming language (preferably Python) as well as beginner to intermediate SQL skills.
  • You have a working knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) methods.
  • You have an understanding of common healthcare standards and ontologies (FHIR, HL7, ICD10, CPT, RxNorm, etc.)
  • You are a MD/DO Physician who has completed primary specialty training (residency)
  • You have advanced training in clinical informatics, through fellowships, post-graduate training, advanced degrees (master’s or PhD), or work experience.
  • You’re adaptable and excited to work in a fast-paced environment that is ambitious, changing rapidly, and often breaking new ground.
  • You have exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Expected base salary compensation range for this role is $200K-$260K (plus equity). Compensation is dependent on experience, overall fit to our role, and candidate location. Expected compensation ranges for this role may change over time. If your compensation requirement is greater than our posted salary ranges, please still consider applying to our role.
