Salud Para La Gente (Salud) provides high quality, comprehensive and cost-effective full scope primary care services to underserved low-income communities in the Monterey Bay area, including Santa Cruz County and Monterey Counties. Salud began in Watsonville in 1978 as a storefront “free clinic,” and with a growing need for health services, in 1992 became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Today Salud is a primary health care network with 11 clinic sites and over 400 employees. We provide high quality services to patients of all ages. Salud seeks a Board-Certified OB/GYN Physician for an OB/GYN Hospitalist position. The OBGYN physicians support the organization’s mission, vision and values and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to operate a 24/7 OB Hospitalist Program at Watsonville Community Hospital.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Provide evidence based Obstetric and Gynecologic care for patients at Watsonville Community Hospital.
  2. Work in a collaborative practice model with Certified Nurse Midwives and Family Medicine Physicians in Labor and Delivery.
  3.  Provide timely consultations in the Emergency Department.
  4. Act as a preceptor for Family Medicine residents rotating in the department.
  5. Actively participate in quality improvement committees and hospital governance.
  6. Participate in continuing education programs to remain current on professional development and practices and to maintain California licensure.
  7. Maintain a valid professional license, updated CPR certificate and valid California driver’s license.
  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Employment Standards:

Working knowledge: of the principles, practices, and procedures used in obstetrics and gynecology to detect, diagnose, and treat health problems in a culturally sensitive manner that includes informed consent and shared decision making.

Ability to: communicate effectively and respectfully with people from different racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds and lifestyles, demonstrating a knowledge of and sensitivity to their needs; to maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, other community agencies, the medical community, and the public.

Salary:  $354,106.74  - $390,986.29 /year

Benefit package: available to all regular Salud employees working 24+ hours per week. Part-time employees may receive some benefits on a pro-rated basis.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Valid California OB/GYN Physician's and Surgeon's license
  • Board certified (or Board eligible) in OB/GYN 
  • Ability to obtain/maintain hospital admitting privileges at Watsonville Community Hospital 

Desirable Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual Spanish/English
