Role

What this role is

This role is for people who want to grow faster than they could anywhere else. You’ll build the systems that supports millions of applications and billions of users, and tackle all the challenges that come with it. You’ll design and operate the runtime, control plane, and isolation boundaries that safely execute user-generated applications at scale.

You’ll invent systems that leverage platform telemetry, execution data, and feedback loops to improve code generation and application performance, enabled by a platform designed with AI at its core.

You will own major parts of the platform end-to-end, from architecture and implementation through production operation and iteration.

How you will operate
  • Design and operate multi-tenant cloud infrastructure, including isolation, deployment, observability, and cost controls for customer applications

  • Maintain world-class reliability for our platform

  • Research and make decisions on technology choices, and service providers

  • Collaborate with product to build platform features that support product innovation

  • Keep up to date with the latest in infrastructure research and development

Running a best-in-class platform requires a cool head, and maintaining your disposition when shit hits the fan. We value self-confidence paired with curiosity, and a respect for evidence.

Primary outcomes

Your success will be measured by:

1. Runtime infrastructure
Design and operate scalable, low-latency infrastructure for user app serving

2. Platform Reliability
You will be responsible for the uptime and reliability of our platform, ensuring failures are isolated and do not cascade across customers. Our users expect high availability and quick resolution when issues arise.

3. Platform Support for Product Features
You will build out the platform features necessary to enable our product roadmap, including primitives for real-time data transfer, background execution, and scalable APIs.

Required background

Candidates typically show:

  • A strong technical foundation from a top CS program or equivalent hands-on experience building real scalable systems

  • Experience building or operating distributed systems in production (cloud infrastructure, backend services, or platforms)

  • Evidence of ambitious, self-driven projects or work that required problem solving and ownership

  • Experience designing scalable systems that support many users

  • Solid programming fundamentals and some experience with Typescript

  • Exceptional ability to read deeply, reason clearly, and communicate complex ideas

  • Experience working in fast-paced environments while balancing care with urgency

Nice to have
  • Prior experience in platform, infrastructure, or backend roles

  • Experience building early-stage systems at a scaleup

  • Previous experience as a sysadmin

  • Personal projects that show initiative, creativity, and independent thinking

  • Backgrounds or interests that span technical and non-technical domains (e.g. writing, design, philosophy, economics, etc)

Why this role matters

We are building the cloud that will support the next billion developers. This role will own large critical pieces of infrastructure that will support a large and growing platform. You will take on challenges that stretch your abilities and solve problems that materially shape the future of the product.

As the platform grows, your work will define the reliability, performance, and safety guarantees our users build on. This is foundational infrastructure, and it has to work.

In all roles

We look for:

Intense. Ship fast. Cycles are hours, not weeks. Hard to outwork.

Ownership. Grab the #1 priority and relentless to deliver.

Fearlessness. Risk on. Do the unknown / uncomfortable. Say "good" to bad news.

Taste. Obsess over quality. Know what “great” looks like. No slop.

Play. Curiosity, joy, and energy.

Sound like you?

Come do the most meaningful work of your career.
