Who We Are:

PR by the Book, LLC is a boutique publicity firm specializing in literary media relations campaigns and social media campaigns for authors and experts.  We pride ourselves on offering a lifestyle company culture that includes a flexible schedule and a virtual office. 


A senior book publicist develops and executes PR/media campaigns for publishing houses, traditionally and self-published authors. Key book genres represented include:  fiction, children’s, health/wellness, memoir, lifestyle, self-help, and business. Position includes writing press materials, executing and overseeing media relations campaigns (to include landing mid to top tier media exposure), strategy design, and author branding consulting.  We are looking for someone who, down the road, is equipped to take on the leadership/management of our publicity team. 

Responsibilities:
  • Write press packs, experts pages, sample media questions and media pitches.

  • Manage media relations campaign execution and client communication.

  • Identify opportunities for contributed articles and tip lists for clients.

  • Develop, identify and maintain relationships with the media. Pitch and secure placements in traditional and online media outlets and manage media requests for clients.

  • Attend client meetings.

  • Research media, newsworthy topics/events and angles/pitches online.

  • Work closely with chief publicity strategist to craft and execute PR campaigns.

  • Maintain communication with clients via phone, email for monthly updates and goal setting.

  • Review campaign analytics with clients.

  • Help authors create consistent branding.

  • Attending monthly Zoom team meetings and Zoom brainstorm strategy sessions.


IT Qualifications (hardware/software/applications):
  • Mobile smartphone

  • High Speed Internet Connection

  • GoogleApps for Business (gmail, Google docs)

  • Mac or PC basic skills

      
      Basic knowledge of these a plus:
  • Google 

  • Muck Rack


Leadership - Interested in moving up to Publicity Manager

  • Able to regularly spot and resolve client/campaign issues

  • Consistently contributes at strategy (brainstorm) sessions 

  • Vocal and active at team meetings and other company functions

  • Mentors team members and interns on publicity knowledge/creativity, book industry knowledge, professionalism and company culture


Client Confidence

  • Inspires confidence and high level of trust with clients

  • Needs limited assistance at understanding and communicating clients’ message



Requirements


  • Self-starter with initiative and literary creativity

  • 5+ years of PR campaign management and execution

  • Proactive problem solver that is solutions oriented

  • Book lover

  • Positive attitude/ team player

  • Understanding of Muck Rack media database a plus

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Independently manages workflow

  • Creative writer

  • Ability to work from a home office
