A Day in the Life:

As a Principal Agentic Node.js Automation Engineer, you will design and build high-impact automation, tooling, and integrations that improve how commerce and order processing workflows operate behind the scenes. You will work outside the core Drupal platform, using Node.js, TypeScript, APIs, and agentic development practices to quickly turn well-defined operational friction points into clean, production-ready solutions.

  • Design, develop, and refine Node.js-based tools, scripts, and automation services that support commerce operations, order processing, and fulfillment workflows.
  • Build and maintain integrations across e-commerce systems, internal tools, ERPs, OMS platforms, payment gateways, shipping providers, marketplaces, and other third-party services using REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Translate clearly scoped business or operational challenges into practical, production-ready technical solutions with minimal oversight or rework.
  • Create automation pipelines that reduce manual effort, improve workflow efficiency, and eliminate friction across the order lifecycle, from order capture through fulfillment.
  • Apply agentic development workflows to move quickly and efficiently, using AI-assisted coding, autonomous task pipelines, and modern automation tooling to maximize output.
  • Actively leverage AI tools to streamline tasks, improve the quality of your work, and share best practices with teammates while continuously seeking new ways to integrate AI into your everyday workflows
  • Partner asynchronously with the core engineering team to communicate progress, clarify scope, identify blockers, and ensure automation work aligns with broader technical priorities.
  • Bring a principal-level perspective to solution design by evaluating tradeoffs, recommending scalable approaches, and producing maintainable work that supports critical commerce workflows.
  • Support observability, reliability, and operational visibility for automation services through thoughtful logging, monitoring, alerting, and error handling where needed.

What it takes:

  • Consultative approach and problem solving skills to successfully align digital solutions with long-term business goals of the client
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to enhance daily work, or a strong desire to do so, including a willingness to experiment, learn, and champion AI adoption within your role
  • Commitment to understanding and exceeding client expectations
  • Ability to perform project oversight and execution of deliverables
  • Flexibility to adapt within a high-growth organization
  • Ability to lead, mentor and motivate those around them
  • Hunger for continuous learning and professional development
  • Intellectual curiosity to provide creative solutions
  • Full understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Ability to positively impact fellow colleagues through effective leadership, presentations, coaching, etc.
  • Desire to work in a team environment
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Regardless of your specific role, we seek individuals who are excited to explore, adopt, and evangelize AI tools and methodologies. If you have experience in AI or a proven track record of rapidly learning and mentoring others on emerging tech, you’ll fit right in.
