onsemi is seeking a highly motivated System Validation Engineer to join our growing System Validation team in San Jose, CA. The successful candidate will play a key role in validating next-generation power management solutions, including multiphase digital controllers, Smart Power Stages (SPS), SmartFET, eFuse, Gate Driver devices, and associated power-delivery systems.

Working as part of a cross-functional product development team, you will be responsible for developing validation strategies, executing system-level testing, identifying root causes of complex issues, and ensuring products meet all functional, performance, reliability, and customer requirements. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with cutting-edge power solutions used in Automotive, AI, server, cloud computing, CPU, and GPU applications. The role aligns with internal System Validation activities covering validation planning, pre silicon validation execution, board bring-up, characterization, automation, and silicon readiness. 

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive system validation plans covering functional, electrical, system, reliability, and application-level requirements.
  • Design and implement validation methodologies, measurement techniques, and test systems for new product development.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory validation, characterization, and debug of silicon and system platforms.
  • Develop automated test solutions using Python, LabVIEW, or similar software tools.
  • Create validation hardware, test fixtures, and supporting circuitry as required.
  • Validate product functionality, protection features, telemetry, comms interfaces, power sequencing, fault handling, and system performance.
  • Execute electrical characterization across operating conditions including voltage, load, temperature, and transient scenarios.
  • Analyze validation data, identify root causes, and work closely with Design, Product Engineering, Applications, Firmware, and ATE teams to resolve issues.
  • Support silicon bring-up activities and contribute to release to market readiness.
  • Document validation results, generate technical reports, and present findings to project teams and management.
  • Support continuous improvement of validation methodologies, test automation frameworks, and best practices

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8–12 years of relevant industry experience in semiconductor, power electronics, system validation, or hardware development.
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit fundamentals.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment such as: Oscilloscopes, Electronic loads, Logic analyzers, Signal and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex hardware and silicon-related issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary: onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $131,100.00 - 222,755.00 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
