Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Human Resources Business Partner to provide strategic HR partnership to senior Commercial leaders, with a focus on supporting Sales and field-based commercial teams across the US and Canada. This senior individual contributor role will partner closely with the VP, HR for Sales and senior business leaders, including executive-level stakeholders, to shape talent strategy, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and support business performance. The role requires strong corporate HR experience, commercial acumen, and the ability to operate with influence in a complex, matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the VP, HR for Sales and senior Commercial leaders to align people strategies with business priorities, growth objectives, and workforce needs.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive and senior leadership teams, providing strategic guidance on talent, organization design, leadership effectiveness, workforce planning, and change leadership.
  • Support HR strategy and execution for Sales and field-based commercial teams, ensuring people plans reflect the needs of distributed, customer-facing organizations.
  • Lead and support talent review, succession planning, leadership development, and high-potential identification processes, using data and insights to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Advise leaders on organizational change initiatives, including restructuring, operating model changes, productivity reviews, team effectiveness interventions, and change adoption planning.
  • Provide guidance on performance management, policy interpretation, employee relations, investigations, and workplace concerns, supporting consistent and compliant application of company policies and employment practices.
  • Use workforce analytics, talent metrics, and business data to identify trends, evaluate organizational health, and recommend practical actions that improve leader and employee experience.
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence, People Operations, Legal, Finance, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated HR solutions that support business outcomes.
  • Coach leaders on effective communication, inclusive leadership, employee engagement, accountability, and team performance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes, tools, and practices to enhance efficiency, consistency, and impact across the Commercial organization.
Essential Requirements
  • Significant progressive Human Resources experience, including substantial experience in a senior HR Business Partner role within a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Sales, Commercial, field-based, customer-facing, or revenue-generating teams.
  • Experience providing HR partnership to executive-level and senior leadership stakeholders, including the ability to influence, advise, and challenge leaders constructively.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand business drivers, translate priorities into people strategies, and connect HR initiatives to measurable business outcomes.
  • Proven experience operating in complex, matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Strong capability in organizational design, workforce planning, talent reviews, succession planning, leadership effectiveness, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Experience supporting organizational change, including restructuring, change communication, stakeholder alignment, and adoption planning.
  • Strong employee relations judgment, including experience advising on workplace issues, policy application, investigations, and risk-aware decision-making.
  • Excellent consulting, coaching, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret workforce data, identify trends, and convert insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to balance strategic influence with hands-on execution in a senior individual contributor capacity.
  • Clear, effective communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to senior leaders in a concise and practical way.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive leadership practices and fair, consistent employment processes.
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience supporting Commercial or Sales teams in food safety, life sciences, diagnostics, manufacturing, industrial, technology, healthcare, or other regulated or technical industries.
  • Experience partnering with global or multinational teams, including exposure to cross-border HR practices and geographically dispersed workforces.
  • Experience supporting large-scale sales transformations, go-to-market changes, territory redesign, or commercial effectiveness initiatives.
  • Experience working with HR Centers of Excellence to deploy enterprise talent, rewards, learning, engagement, or workforce planning programs.
  • Familiarity with HR systems, workforce dashboards, engagement platforms, or people analytics tools.
  • Advanced degree or professional HR certification, such as SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR, or equivalent.
