As a key member of the EQT Commodities Team, the Principal Originator will lead strategic origination and business development efforts across the Midwest natural gas market, focused on creating value through portfolio optimization, structured transactions, and innovative commercial solutions. This role is responsible for identifying and executing opportunities that enhance the value of EQT’s transportation and storage portfolio, including releasing existing capacity, securing new capacity in emerging markets, and developing new products and service offerings that meet customer needs.


The Principal Origination responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop value-add strategies around our existing firm transportation & storage portfolio. This may involve releasing existing capacity and/or adding new capacity in new regions.
  • Structure & execute complex transactions that create value for both EQT and our customers.
  • Business Development of new trading counterparties pipelines and storage operators.
  • Develop new product/service offerings.
  • Able to perform basic analysis and financial modeling to assess the value-add of a particular proposal.
  • Coordinate seasonal customer-generated RFP responses.
  • Develop and coordinate EQT-generated RFPs.
  • Manage NAESB, ISDA, MSPA, KYC request process with potential new customers.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to visit customers and attend customer events - primarily within the Midwest. 

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of origination experience in the Midwest region.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record in structured deal-making and strong experience developing and maintaining professional industry relationships.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in business, finance or engineering preferred.
  • Excellent sales & communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present proposals to Senior level executives both internally and externally.
  • Able to structure & execute complex, long-term “win-win” agreements.

Midwest Definition - The Midwest is defined as all states encompassed by the geographic area extending from Ohio to North Dakota and from Tennessee to Colorado.


Remote work is being considered for this role excluding the following states:  California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee unless willing to relocate.


Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
