About SiTime

SiTime is the Precision Timing company.

Timing is the heartbeat of all electronics, ensuring performance, resilience and scalability. For decades, quartz devices, non-silicon technology, have kept systems in sync, but they struggle in harsher, more demanding environments. MEMS-based Precision Timing delivers greater accuracy, smaller size and resilience. Today, MEMS timing powers over 400 applications, including high-growth ones in AI datacenters, automated driving, industrial and humanoid robots, wearables and IoT.

Our semiconductor MEMS programmable solutions offer a rich feature set that enables customers to differentiate their products with higher performance, smaller size, lower power, and better reliability. With more than 4 billion devices shipped, SiTime is changing the timing industry. For more information, visit: www.sitime.com

Job Summary

We are seeking a curious, motivated, and talented Principal Product Engineer to accelerate the development and deployment of SiTime’s MEMS-based timing products. The Principal Product Engineer will be responsible for driving continuous improvements on one or more products in production to ensure high yield and high quality while reducing product cost. This role expects the engineer to be adept at utilizing statistical methods for analyzing large datasets to identify yield issues and work with cross-functional engineering team members to resolve them. This position is ideal for an engineer with strong analytical capability, deep understanding of semiconductor/MEMS device behavior, and experience maintaining complex mixed-signal or MEMS products in mass production. Candidates with experience in Systems Engineering, Silicon Characterization, Circuit Design or MEMS Design are preferred. Qualified candidates can be a graduate in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product engineering activities from concept through high-volume ramp for MEMS oscillators, resonators, and timing ICs.
  • Analyze large datasets to assess product performance across process, voltage, temperature, and reliability stresses.
  • Partner with test engineering to develop efficient and robust production test solutions.
  • Drive root-cause analyses and problem-solving for device performance and yield issues during development.
  • Monitor production performance, yields, and outgoing quality; identify trends and drive continuous improvement actions.
  • Collaborate with foundry, assembly, and test partners to resolve process and equipment-related issues.
  • Implement design-of-experiments (DOE) to optimize parameters, improve yield, and reduce test cost.
  • Ensure robust product release through documentation, risk assessments, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Support customer engineering teams with debug, field returns, and technical inquiries.
  • Interface with operations for supply chain readiness, lifecycle management, and cost-reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Product Engineering, Semiconductor Device Engineering, or MEMS technology.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Exensio, JMP, MATLAB, Python).
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing, ATE test flows, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional technical initiatives to closure.

Preferred

  • Strong understanding of MEMS resonators, timing architectures, oscillators, or mixed-signal ICs.
  • Experience with MEMS fabrication processes, wafer-level packaging, or thin-film materials.
  • Background in timing products (TCXO/OCXO/MEMS oscillators).
  • Familiarity with failure analysis techniques such as SEM, FIB, XRD, and electrical debug.
  • Experience with automotive or industrial qualification standards.

Key Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and deliver in fast-paced environments.
  • High ownership mindset with attention to detail.
